I am going through a multifaceted exercise - 1. Relearning Open office (OO) Calc. 2. Learning OO VB/VBA. 3. Transposing my new Poker Bible into OO Calc to produce recommendations (playing levels, min buy-ins, leverages etc. and 4. Writing my new Poker Bible.
The Poker Bible is a working document, i.e. not fixed in methodology, leverage per site etc. It requires me to ... ...do a periodic 'stocktaking' of all Poker funds across all current sites. ...analyse my period results ...and other requirements not listed here for various reasons. Fortunately and deliberately OO Calc can perform 98% of these requirements with only a little basic data entry, only about 3 or 4 values per site.
So, to the crux of this post, I want to run a few things past the mass of Mobsters to see if their thought processes and their discipline and or approach to Poker is similar or not to mine, and analyse why it is different and determine what I can learn from the Mobsters or what I can impart to them if they wish to learn from me or the other Mobsters posts in this topic.
Post 1. Global Bankroll (GBR) and Total Bankroll (TBR) - GBR is all funds including locked tickets and unrealisable rewards etc. etc. GBR is theoretical only and should be measured for completeness and comparative analyses purposes - TBR is all funds available to me to withdraw and should be measured.
Q1. When deciding on how much leverage to apply to any given game or buy-in do you do any analyses or exercise to manage risk? Q2. Some Professional Poker players recommend a multiple of tournament buy-in should be within your TBR, Do you have a number or quantity of buy-ins within your 'roll that you normally do not play above? Q3. What is that number?
One of my main issues is I often play too low a level, while I still enjoy the game and the playing, and the profit and results can be good, however, in many respects it is a waste of my valuable time - Adding ~1% to my 'roll via a min cash at the correct buy-in level is good progress - going deep adds significantly more. While, adding a few cents via a Freeroll or very low stakes game (FYI: I came 1st of ~1053 in a Freeroll a few days ago and it added less than 0.5% to my 'roll) can be heartwarming, confidence building and, if you are immortal, may eventually make you a mil. or bil. ...lionaire, however in the short or meduim-term, progress is very slow... so....
Q4. Do you still play Freerolls in the search for profit? Q5. If a Freeroll had ~10c equity (i.e. $100 Freeroll and ~1,000 peeps expected) how much 'roll would you need to not play the Freeroll for profit and target another buy-in level?
Thank you in advance for your answers, I will also answer any questions and provide any clarification if required. I may start posting (part-redacted for my privacy) sections of the Poker Bible.

Good luck with this! I am not much in poker in last years, but can answer on something! If it would be about casino, there I am every day! Didnt made any analyses when I played poker, dont have number of buy ins and dont play freerolls!
Hi DV, thanks for your post, I kind of started this after losing a few grand in casino, it was hurting my poker, so I have segregated the funds (casino/poker/life(living/retirement)) I also have a small casino bible, mostly involving levels to play and obliging me to tandem play with a bonus/free tickets etc. I could put a bit more time in it, but the OO Calc & VB for it is too simple to fully stretch me.
What restriction/limits/levels do you place on yourself for casino?

cant say that I have some limits in casino playing! many times I spend everything! when I climb with money, I make bigger and bigger bets per spin, so I dont follow some rules! dont say that is right, but thats how it is with me! lot of times will lose everything and play till end, even when I am at 1000 or 2000 e!
Love the post, the honesty and openness, something (a philosophy) I embrace.

Probable correct, if you can either bank some profit first, change machine or clear a bonus or ideally all of these. After all we are chasing the monster win!!

thanks 3pokeronly ! honest always! I change lot of slots, change bets, but ofcourse when you stick to some which doesnt give bonus, then you try even more and ofcourse spend it more! we all love to chase for even bigger win, no matter that last bonus in game payed 600 or 700 e! I dont mean deposit or no deposit bonuses, I mean bonus with 3 scatters or whatever slot offer! good luck with your games!
One of the "rules" for both Poker and Casino Bibles is the withdrawal policies, so that we can maximise deposit or clearing bonuses later. Bouncing between two or three reputable platforms in the main, maybe one of BRM's bonuses for $10 + deposit bonus and free spins, lose - forget the site, win, withdraw (<<that bit can be difficult sometimes), place site in rotation or not. Most Providers are represented on most Platforms so you can still play your favorite game and we can lose our monies where we want!
You must use an online wallet based in currency US$, most-all Deposits and Withdrawals should be totally free and virtually instant from Wallet-side, most-all Deposits and Withdrawals should be totally free Provider-side, however timing varies.

Not a rule for Country, Best practice for individuals, can save you a lot of money (No fees, no exchange rate fees and mark-up, no Bank or Credit Card transaction fees) and no losing relative value if exchange rate changes.

on poker sites I cant, because they are closed for my country! but didnt had problems before, when it was on dollars and I make deposit with euro on any other currency! we didnt had any fees for any rate, deposits, cards, whatever!

Wow that sucks. In NZ there used to be some good pub games that were effectively unregulated, perhaps there is a gap in your market, host some large home games?? Split pot game in Split??

I never had problems either but when i accounted, my ex-profession, I ended up paying around 7% in fees and exchange rate commissions for some sites. Obviously loved the monies coming back but losing a couple of cents a dollar each way sucked.
Hence another few rules about deposits and accessibility for my funds...
As per Poker Bible methodology I dropped stakes at GGPoker to meet current requirements, so played very low stakes.

(as in last place, first KO'd) However, I could "Spin" it to non-poker players and make this bad beat story a happy, if both a misrepresented and duplicitous one.
Regardless, for the purposes of the Poker Bible, these setback happen, always, every day in Poker, if you cannot wear and weather these and the associated downswings, you will not last playing Poker or you will be constantly going broke and never playing at the stakes you want or aspire to.
My advice..<redacted> over to you mobsters fill in the blanks.
Posted by dule-vu: Thats how it is for lot of eu countries!
If not all, there must be secondary, Country specific laws that made Providers deem it wise to leave or other downstream effects, such as Banking regulations. Although I am 90% sure I have seen Croatians playing real money poker very recently.

I know what I am talking about! They left from many countries because they dont want to pay tax and license and goverment like my blocked site or just told to site to close are accounts! 888 and party poker are gone, you cant even log in, poker stars can use from software, but you can open website, so if you would have some problem with money, they can react as they want because you had stop from your goverment! Cant talk about other poker sites because I didnt try to open them after they closed this big sites for us!
