1 post required to be eligible to vote in polls?  0
I was wondering if we should do so only users with 1 forum post or more, can vote in the polls?

The idea would be to make sure we get as many users by the forum as possible, so hopefully some more will stick around and visit once in a while, to discuss, and not only vote to get points without ever posting Smile

What do you all think?

i think that sounds fair. but it's not hard to post once so I don't think it will necessarily get more posters in the forum. I can't see anyone complaining as I'm sure most voters also post occasionally.

btw admin, how many points do you get for voting in a forum?

Good idea, like you have to post in that topic to vote in that poll? Makes sense.

that sounds a v good idea but I doubt thats what admin has in mind. Can't see it happening either

I just created a poll 'who will win six nations' and england have nine votes alone even though there are only eight replies in the thread. So ppl are voting for England without justifying their vote or contributing to the discussion. there's no proof they even watched the games

I think you misunderstood, no need to spam a thread to cast a vote imo.

1 post to be eligible to vote? No, no and no. At least 10 posts or much more, do you think it's VERY hard to do 10 posts Confused

Do we really need a lot of Joe_the_pro style posts, like "standard", "i see it the same way" or others of this quality? Those would surely follow after that rule is implemented.

I see it the same way Big Smile

I think it could be good to have to make one post.

Many users often needs to get a push to post the first post, and hopefully after they have "broken the ice" they post more and meaningfull posts.

That probably wouldn't happen if only 1 post is required to be eligble to vote in *all* posts. If it's 10 posts in total, or "a post in the thread where you want to vote", I think we might see alot of those "agree"-posts etc.

worth a try.

off topic: but the idea with "post in poll" to recieve the points is good. sometimes you wanna know why someone voted that way.
it doenst have to be the 100 letters rule, but at least 2-3 words ?

Teddy, I think we'll see alot of boring posts or "i think the same" etc because of that, don't you agree?

Well, I have to say, I am really not a poster. So not sure that would really encourage me to post. I don't think I have anything to bring to the table, I am not a "great" player, I just love to play

agree - i think the same Big Smile

edit: dlcama85...no matter if your good or not. even if your wrong with something just tell your opinion and you will learn by discusing that matter. because if only good players are allowed to use this forum then we only would have a few threads/posts Smile

Funny.

1 post to vote, almost seams pointless (no pun) as said above 10 should be min, but obviously hard for the none english, if the polls are being abusd lower the points or have a max per week/month of how much ppl can get from voting.
If its to get more ppl to post then you could put it on a scale so 50 posts gets 5 points per vote then 100 posts gets 10 points etc.
Explain what spam is to the good ppl, and explain if they choose to SPAM 5 times or more then they will have forum prilages removed and get a cap in there a55, and no one wants that on the north Wales expressway.

i am a BRM member for not so long time and i just started to take a closer look at the forum and the other stuff at BRM because i have the time now to do but in the past i did not have so much free time ... so it does not mean that i did not want to post or whatever but simply to less time to do and by the way ... in my opinion has every person the right to take advantage of some situations ... and that is what most people are doing here with BRM .

Ya, you're right. Could set a 100 character minimum to avoid spam but I don`t know. I have a feeling poll system has to change or it will cost BRM too much.

As for 1 post thing, it was mentioned that only english BRM users would be able to vote cause only English in the forum.

i dont think we should get any points for voting in polls, the points make the polls inacurate as people just vote for the points and dont even read the thread, i know it will mean less votes but at least people will be voting because they want to vote, not just to grab points. Confused
