At a shorthanded table the aggression is usually higher. Position plays a bigger part. You have to open your ranges, especially from later positions or the blinds will eat your stack.

Don't be scared of playing short handed - you can play a lot more hands and the action is fun.
Play at the lower stakes tables and the aggression isn't too bad at all, if it is then leave and find another table.
You don't have to play anywhere near as crazy as most people think, in a 6 max game, and a TAG style is often still the best approach.
"the blinds will eat your stack" in a misconception IMO. Sure the blinds come around a little quicker but in a cash game they're such a small % of your stack it's not a big deal.
Just play the same at a six max table as you do at a 10 man table when the first 4 players have folded and you'll be fine.

I usually play a bit more aggressive preflop, and after flop I only play made hands. Many people seems to be more loose on SH tables imo, so its good to get the money in pre. (Omaha)
