Is there any chance we could get a PM system on these forums? This is the only site I post on that doesn't have it... or is it against site regulations?

I think Admin is affraid that it would be abused with aff links and such stuff which I believe is right. A search feature is missing imo.

M3 is right - this has been discussed many times in the past as well. We don't see the need for a PM system and we're not willing to give competitors a free way into all our members, as we have no way of controlling what is being sent in every PM.

the reason why you refuse a PM is understandable and thats something we have to accept. a solution would be if you can see all the PM´s written to a certain member, like...if you "rollover" the PM box you see all recent messages (visible to all users), and if you click on the members name then you can see all messages that have been written to that person. well its no more really private, but at least you can use it as a chat/or short message. i think BRM has also honest members who would immediatly report it if its been abused. but if you say thats still to risky then we have to live with it as it is

Teddy, You have some nice ideas. And I would really love to be able to provide a PM system of some kind, but we're never gonna get through with it as long as it's such an "open channel" of referring our users to competing sites.
But maybe if we can do something like this, I can get approval for such a system: 1) Make all messages "public" one way or the other. 2) Use some kind of filters / detectors to warn us if certain links are being sent (but this is a bit easy to get around) 3) Only allow the PM system for users of a certain rank, ie. "must have been a member for 3 months and have XX forum posts and have earned XXX Mob Points overall", in order to enable the *sending* part of PM system.
But honestly, I wouldn't put too much of an effort into it, as I know the management shares my view - we don't really need a PM system, not yet at least.
------------ And basically because there's too much to loose, too little to gain (also when considering the development time and "checking time" to make sure it's not being abused).

yeah it could be very good, but there's a lot of against the pm's so i think it won't happen, but i'm glad that you post everything here, and in a while you can get an answer

This is a great idea - it would prevent spamming from outside and give those of us that are loyal to the cause that little something extra
It's not so good though, but it's there.
