There's more javascript and images than the old one, so if it's slower, then your computer/browser probably needs an update

No, iframes are out of the question. Terrible (useless) when it comes to search engines, the banners on the site will not reload either, and it's not possible to bookmark threads within an iframe. And I don't know any other forum that uses an iframe
