One thing people do need to also understand is that by pulling stunts like that you completely wipe out any thoughts players may have, about the range you are prepared to play.
Supposing the two players very next hand were involved in the pot and Lederer has AK again, Durrr tries the same stunt, the Lederer is going to shove his stack in the middle to try take it donw there and then. Durrr being super smart, next time has AA.. Lederer is dead in the water..
When you can completely hide what range you are prepared to play, people are less inclined to get involved with you, and people never knwo whether yuo have utter garbage or a monster...
Anyone who can do that, and do it well, is a genius, whatever way you want to look at it.

Anyone could do that, it just depends on how you spend your money, it doesn't take any sort of smarts to keep pushing a bad hand, I've seen hundreds of fishes doing the same thing. And what if the next time he bluffs he's up against the nuts, and the time after that it won't help him to get a great hand once or twice, Dwan has played very well on HSP so far, but a lot of his most profitable hands have been on the verge of failing misserably, a lot of his bluffs has been so close to being called and a lot of his big hands have been close to making the minimum. Dwan can play great, but this hand was not it, yes Lederer was pretty big but about half his stack was in before the flop, and the best Dwan can hope for is AK and even then he is a 2:3 underdog and can pretty much only make take more money from Lederer in a 1:8 and no way Lederer's stack justifies that. There was nothing genius in the pot, two players made a really bad play each.

The fact is that either way durrr played this crap (and only he can do it) he was always going to win unless A or K was on the board, he knew what he was aginst and was happy to settle with the 8, now if that 8 didnt come wht do you think he would have done on the river? unless A,K comes best belive he is taking that pot, so either way durrr was outplaying Lederer, and doing it so from the outset, everyone knows what crap he can and will play, but he chooses who he will play it against, now also its down to bad play by Lederer, why see a flop here?, does he not know durrr? I dont like durrr, but do love his game, I think if he missed and took it all would shout genious but cus he hits its lucky. But thats the thing with him, he plays great and when he fks up he manages to get lucky.
I think Lederer was his target as soon as he sat down, Lederer you got Durrrd

Wow, that was a sick hand. I would litterally kill durr if I were the one holding the AK. But I gotta say that Lederer didn't play the hand very good though.
Well lets put it this way.. Hes ground his way up from freerolls to the highest levels of the game.. Playing at limits we can only watch in amazement at.
You dont get that high in the stakes without knowing what you are doing.
Durrrr may make irrational plays. He may look like a donkey. But I can promise you. He can play poker as well as anyone on the circuit. Hes just adds a dimension to his game that no one else can figure out how to beat.. But take that side of his game away, and you'd stil have a player that could knock the spots off any one of us at any limit we'd choose to play at.
Those that think hes just lucky and he got where he is on lucky suck outs is deluded and if I may suggest, a trifle jealous that they arent able to do the same.

Posted by shokaku: The look on the face of Lederer at the and of the hand is priceless. And AK oop, so deep as they are at the table, is difficult to play. But Lederer made the worst choice. Facing the 5bet he had to push or fold. Calling oop is allways an invitation for desaster.
ya I saw his face and Phil Laak I think or Essfarandi said u just got durrrred. I was LMAO.

Posted by r1z0r3: he got two live cards so if he puts howard on ace king its a good play cuz he knows he can out play him if there's not a A - K on the flop...
