I think that in addition to A,8 pocket cards Wild Bill Hickock hit a boat which is the actual 'Dead man's hand'.

Might be wrong but that is the story I heard.
Dead Man's Hand is a play card game of poker. This is a two pair of aces and eights, and traditionally is considered a move that is bad luck.
origin On August 2, 1876, in the saloon Nuttal & Mann's # 10, Deadwood, James Butler Hickok, better known as "Wild Bill", was playing poker when a criminal known as Jack "Crooked Nose" McCall slipped behind him and shot him in the neck. Wild Bill fell silently down the cards hold gripped his fingers: two pair of aces and eights, to be known ever since as the "dead man's hand".
this is what I found on wikipedia

Sorry if someone else has already covered this but one of my favourite poker starting hand knicknames is :
'WHAT A LOAD OF CR@P'
This can apply to any hand , but usually a premium hand that s hen beaten by any hand of a lower starting value, I.e my AA gets beaten by 92o which hits 99652 on the board......... Hence "Whhat a lad of cr@p".
In dutch we call 4/8 dierendag (animal day) and JJ boeren (cowboys), really fun to see what other countries call their hands . Hope many different people list their stuff, really fun to see!
