Playing poker for a living  0
so i was thinking about my growing bankroll and i thought of making this poll in order to exchange stories about how your bankroll began and in how much time you develop it

i also want to now which is the percentage of people here who live from the gains in poker and how much do they withdraw each month

thank you

My case:
started my bankroll in vrigin poker a couple of months ago with a no deposit 10€, and now im playing much better and i have 300€.i expect to build a BIG bankroll so that i can start playing big tournaments and start withdrawing a quantity each month in order to do my things Big Smile

im hoping that someday i can decide my path having these 2:
1-finish the university and have the opportunity to work in some good company

or 2-became a professional poker player Big Smile

share your cases

I play for fun but I certainly would like some money to get me through uni. I actually need a job but I find most work too boring. I know how that sounds but I really want a job I'd like to do. I'd love to be able to make a living from poker. I think I am slightly deluded, convincing myself I could live off poker for the next two years. I don't want to make a career from poker. I have other ambitious ideas. I want to be a director an make films. That would be my dream job. But in the meantime I would love to be able to continue to be the student bum I've been these last two years, wasting tax payers money, getting drunk and partying and hopefully playing poker to earn some much needed extra dosh.

i think is missing an option in the pool.
something like " i play to gain an extra income" some kind of to sustain a better way of life.
thats my case, those extra 200€ allow me to do and buy somethings, but i still need to have my job...

yes youre right i shouldnt throw my education away, and i really try not to(even harder because im studying spacial engineering and i know thats a hard one to graduate from, but with great opportunities after i finish it) but sometimes i just get really addicted(mostly because the bankroll built is going very good) to poker and instead of studying im playing poker..

i need to start focusing more on whats really important here

my bankroll!! hmmm online around 300$ right now on full tilt start this month with 150$ as i start every month.

i have a bank account that i do not touch, and maybe i can call it my bankrool of 1700€ as it was build with poker money. i went to republica dominicana whit poker money aswell, but i dont plan to ever use that money, because of that i dont call it my bankroll Big Smile

its my backup money for life, not poker.

with my 300$ i play on nl50 and start medium stack 20$ if i drop below 150 i start playind nl25 with 10$ a table, playing as many tables i can with ABC poker.

im not a role model on bankrool management, but i can say to you it started here a few month ago, for real, with the action poker bankrooll, reading books and improving as much as i can, and now im a winning player but dont go up in limits with my "bankrool" for two reasons.

i want to take money every month, and iam not fell prepared to go to NL100. im in my safe zone.

ahh and responding your question i play for near 3 years i stopped a few month in the middle ,( i was a losing player), taking it serious, to win money for about 9 month now.

sorry my english if i was to write in portuguese i would explain me better...

Big Smile

good luck compadre Big Smile

Dont stop school/job until ur proved ur a winning player for 5 years.
I only play 1 year make averaga $1,000 a month have now $13,000+
I allways told myself i only go pro when i make $20,000 a month else its not worth it for me.

I never said it was easy Blink

And i play average 5h a day so do the math Blink
So $200 stakes with 7% ROI must do it (+/-)

So yes very long way to go Smile

Its a bit of a loose cannon, at what point do you say you are a pro poker player?
I play a fair bit, but for the love of it, could I do it to a regular basis, choosing days off, play to a time table, I dont think so , so I guess ill never be a PRO nor do I want to be I feel it would remove the fun factor.
My work provides all I need so poker would be a risky move if I was to go PRO.

Still I play for fun with the target to earn sometime. But do not have a plan to become a professional poker. I think I can take it for part time. Monthly $500 will be okay but i need much time to reach in that position as money come and loose so quickly here.

Poker is far from being a hobby too me.
I play 4/5h a day and offcourse i likethe game but its not the fun thats keep me playin, its the money that keeps me playin.
I see oppurtunities for the future, but only in the long run, cos i cant say i am a pro with 1K a month.

So yes the pro-status/ semi pro is coming 1 day but not for the next years Smile

You can't play poker for fun. Fun comes once you have got cash in your pocket ;D

I've been playing poker since 2 months

i've get some bankrolls, always breakeven, but I dream which getting money and living with poker
I know it is possible, but I know it is not so easy, perhaps possible
I'm trying to do my best and grow my bankroll up
when I could cash out about $500 per month I'd be pleased

i dont like to take to much risk, so im withraw fast : result, i play always with bankroll of 50$ (means sngs and tournament until 5$)... yes i win some money, but not enough to live...

its possible to live with poker, but be careful, its a really hard way of live... sometime you dont know if u will have some food at the end of the month...

so do it, its a nice dream, but as you said, finish your study, its a good assurance !!!

I would love to earn so good money to quit my normal job however for today it's simply impossible. My bankroll is too low, the stakes aren't high enough and my skills definitely insufficient... Sad
