How to play with high blinds (cash NL holdem)  0
I'm just wondering how you should play NL hold em when everyone has around 20BB

do you play really aggressive or really tight or what? i can't quite work it out :S

i would guess very tight but when i did i was running out of chips fast, and i couldn't buy in 100000 times (this was live poker 50c/1 dollar NL and i only wanted to buy in maybe twice for the min of 20.. everyone else was the same)

i assume i should just try to find a better table ;p but any other tips would be awesome =D

You should play pretty tight if you don't wanna buyin often.
Monitor the players to see their playing style. whenever you have good cards raise 3-4 times bb and when you hit something good push.
Be aggressive but only with good cards and try stealing blinds from weak players.
And if your table is filled with loose aggressive players then change table at once unless you plan to play loose aggressive yourself.

Play lower.

Short stack play, and 20BB is short stacked, is swingy. So it is unlikely that you will not need more than 2 buy ins.

It depends on how much money you have to spend. I mean you should be playing tight conservite play at all tale not just the really high blinds Smile

I often play tight, bluff very rare. I think that is the best way, because most of the currensy I make this way. Mostly tight and rarely bluff!!

If you want to play shortstack you must find a table with many bigstacks, if all are shortstack the stategy is not working 100%.

try to adjust your stratergy to suit your table, if you are not willing to rebuy and not willing to mix it up a little how do you expect to win anything? or even be there at the end?

If the rest of the table is to scared to play just pick you spot and get stealing, if you get resistance let it go.
I have played a little live and have seen how the people that have deep pockets often have a big stack at some point before the rebuy period ends, they play very loose as they have no fear of loosing there chips.
You should not play in fear but always be cautious.. Smile

Shortstack startegy is a clear stratgy explained in many pokersites. If it is to be successfull you should try to follow it as it is explained.

But you can of-couse buy-in to a tabel with no clear stratgy in front and try to adobt after how the other players are acting. But then I would bye-in more than 20BB. If you hit your nuts, you don't get paid with only 20 BB.

NB: I make the assumption that you follow bankrollmanagment.

My advice to you is: If you want to play big, you've got to play without being affraid of loosing your money. If you start thinking in your chips as your money you will be so afraid of letting them go that you just can't make a bet in the right way. You will be scared just by thinking in making a bet, God knows what would pass through your mind if you think in re-raise or going all in... play short, this forum shows you are not prepared to play that high!

Always play like you prefer to, don't play with money you can't afford to loose and the game will be fun again > and you'll get back in your rythem.

We can't decide how you should play

yeah i normally play pretty loose and aggressive.. the problem is the lowest blinds they have at the casino me n my mate went to are 50c/1 dollar so to go and play with the right stack for LaG will be expensive hahaa

thanks for the advice guys Smile i guess i will either have to find some lower blinds or simply play TaG like top 20% starting hands or something [:S]

cheers
