Memoirs of a Donk - The Mansion Journey  0
Well .. $50 credited (Thank You BRM!!)

This one seems to be lasting for a change. Having been through Action Poker and Virgin Poker within about a week each. Then decided to learn how to play Smile

So Mansion is the way forward (we hope). Time to test all I have learned. And hopefully with help and advice here, change my losing play .. into a winning one.

So far, my current stats :

Playing for just over a week :

9 hours logged on Mansion
651 Cash Table Hands (0.01/0.02 nl)

Current Loss = -$1.54
(surprised that I haven't lost it all already Cool )

I would build up nicely over a few days, and in one session lose all my hard work, then lose some more trying to recover ...

The biggest problem (or most expensive) I have at the moment is lowering my starting hands after getting beat by some really crappy cards (and players) and just completely losing all my discipline. Any advice on how to get over that? You will be my hero for life!!!

Bankroll management is conservative (5% max buy in on cash tables, 2% for Sngs and MTTs)

Leave the table after losing 2 Buy Ins (goto learn to do this and not chase losses) or when I have trippled my buy in(s).

Looking forward to the BRM Freeroll in a couple of hours, see you there!

Stop playing after a bad beat and do something else to let off the steam.

Well, if you really are starting to play, should only play premium or almost premium hands.

IMO there is no sense in leaving the table if you are up 3 buy-ins, unless there is another big stack in the table. If there are only normal stacks in the table you should stay in the table, since there might be a chance that some of them are already tilting since they got busto. Maybe you should just tighten your game in that specific table a bit more and value bet only.

Well looks like you are improving, just keep your patience and concentration alive at the tables.
After losing to crappy cards, you can sitout for few hands and listen to some music to regain your composure, just remember that donks don't get lucky all the time.

lol wth,

9 hours 651 hands?

start playing with multitable, easy on nl2 fr.
10 tables are still slow and you are forced to play proper poker.
this way you will play up to 900 hands an hour.

Well you know already that it is hard to stop if you loose. Even it is hard to stop even if you win also.lol

This is some kind of magic which works when one plays.lol

Wow ... I should check in more often. Thanks for the response and especially the advice.

Which ever way I looked, i got rivered with the stupidist of cards ... that always seemed to hit...every time. They dont always get lucky ... but damn there is a lot of them.

Tried something new over the last 2 days. I played without using my HEM hud. One table at a time (I would love to do 10, but have to start small). I found that without relying on stats, and more on my judgement ... i seemed to do better. I am sure with more hand histories the hud will actually help, but for now when I am only meeting players for the first time, my data is a little skewed.

Bankroll mob freeroll was ...umm weird. Out of 500 registered, there were only 20 or so actually playing. I went through the first hour just raising all the sitouts on my table. Nearly had a heart attack when I was suddenly reraised. Didnt finish in the money *sigh*

So .. current stats

$15.22 Profit (Yay!!)
1715 Hands
23 Hours

Went abit stupid one night and managed to decimate my bankroll... was down to $20 in one session (also an attempt at multitabling 4 tables). But somehow managed to find focus the next day and made it all back and sum the next day. So not hating poker so much at the moment.

Oh and about halfway to releasing my first $10 bonus (500pts)

Probably a a bad decision with regards to bankroll management, but the play is a whole lot better on the 0.05/0.10NL tables, and there is fold equity (well some).

I seem to have stopped losing money on the button, which is something that has been bugging me for a while. I have loosened up quite a lot OTB and steal the blinds quite a bit more. Getting brave we are!

Now some work on my Sit n Go play. Personally I think I play too tight, but get nailed when i loosen up. Only finishing ITM about 30%

Thanks again for the feedback and support.

PS, I figured out how to subscribe, so I should get an email with replies and get back sooner.

See u on the tables

I am playing with one of BRMs no deposit $50 bankrolls. Didnt have too many options in choosing the site. I dont think I would voluntarily deposit my own money here either, but really value the experience I am getting at the moment.

Mansion isn't that bad a place to learn. iPoker is a pretty active network and there's a wide variety of players so, stay tight and make the right plays and you should be ok.

Try out the £2 18/27 player MTT as they're pretty weak, I was cashing on the regular when I was playing there, GL!

Thumbs Up
