5 minutes ago was playing in tournament. 9 players, 7 are folded, I have AK. I'm check and last one rising... I tought and call, he all-in, me too... Am I right in this or no? I think right decision. Flop: 8910 It seems he knows... then turn 8 again and river 7 How could preserve from such bad players?
Posted by _MOPE_: I see. thanks. I'll use this offer in future.
Also it would be intresting if it was Suited or not. Despite that it was bad luck, that's poker^^ For deper analyses, there would be more informations needed, but like Flangel said, AK is a drawing hand, so don't overrate it, but it has in many situations good playablity.

you play it right, and he play it wrong!! If he goes all-in and you have AK.. It's an insta. call. You just gets unlucky! Only Aces or Kings, would dominate you massive. But It's very unreal that he hold Aces or Kings when you have AK.

Or it was a Sng Full ring? Why the f**k would U insta shove with AK in the first round
No wonder so many people get frustrated.... get real in FR and MTT's , I fold preflop AK after a reraise. AJ = UTG and early pos = I dont play it KQ off? Never play it UTG or middle pos pocket 22-66 => fold preflop in a MTT in early stage.

May its your style.. But I dont wait untill the blinds eats me!! On cashgame I would play like you, but on a tourney?!?!?! No way!! You really want tell me, that you fold AK if 1 guy put you all in?? I dont think so. may in a 3 way pot, but against just 1 player??. And believe me I'm not frustrated or something. My roll is bg enough..

Posted by Flangel: I fold AK on such stage wtf.
U can play me anytime ^^. If U cant lay down AK, I bet U never layed down QQ and JJ also. Deffo I should play against U.
Call me again someone with a big ego, but ask 100NL + 200NL and above what they feel about AK.
Yes I know that AK is in NL100+200 a bad hand (show me 1 NL100/200 player who fold AK or dont raise it up^^), but we talk about a TOURNEY. And I play NL50 I raise it up everytime... It's my style. You can play yours, and I#ll play mine. Let you blind out, its your prob.

U would have known he had 67? Sure... Even if he had 7-2, stays bad play from the AK. Its endless discussion
I fucked many donks and spewtards with AK against my sets with Ace on board for example. All getting crazy coz they hit A with K kicker....and shove it in postlfop.
67 is not in bad shape against AK anyway.
And for tourneys... i throw away 85% preflop minimum.

Posted by _MOPE_: and I'm not off and call and then he just lucky... isn't he?
Of course he was lucky, but think about that...in 10 times you play against him with the same cards, he will win 4 times and you 6 times. It's not very much I think, isn't it?!

Sure it might be a slight bad beat, but as have been mentioned it's 60/40 hand so not really that unlucky. And yes AK is a drawing hand, so it would be stupid to put all your money in with i this early in a tourney, sure play it but dpending on the reraise either call or fold, not much use in shoving or keep pushing it.
I agree with Flangel that AK is over rated, but you under rate it. Sure deep stacked, such as early stage tourney or cash game you can easily fold AK since even if you get your money in odds are it will be a coin flip at best, if you play agaisnt good players.
But in later stages in a tourney AK really is a premium hand, since anyone with any experience playing tourneys knows that once the blind are getting up to 300+ you will be playing pretty short stacked, in which case AK which is rarely dominated but which also dominates a lot of hands since pretty much AT+ at least are hands that people will be putting in their money with.
In the end, I wouldn't want to go all in with any hand pre flop early on in a tourney, at least if I think I'm ahead, sure I would do it with some, aces and kings at the very least, but it is too much of a gamble early on, there will be plenty of spots where I'm much better than a 70/30 favorite. So try to keep the pots small in early stages of a tourney and once you get down what 30 BB something you can start playing hands like AK more aggresivly.
