Using Chat Box to Slate Slag or Berate/ Try to get opponents on tilt- is it -

I would have liked to have made this a poll as i think it may have been a good one, but as i am quite a noob i am unsure how, maybe one of u brmers will tell me.
Basically what i wanna discuss is- do any of you berate/slag off/wind up etc your opponents and do u think its worthwhile?
For those that are intersested, i do occasionally berate bad play - mainly to wind players up, get them tilting and on occasion it works. I played a 10plyr sng last night and 1 guy was running all over the table, there was 7 left he had more than half the chips and got a bit over cocky, called 2 all ins with mediocre holdings. He was still the chip leader, but i saw it as my opportunity to give him some stick. And oh yes, it worked a treat. A few hands later our hero is gone in 6th. On the way out the door he says to me a la chat box after the standard byebye donk from me - " you are the loser here pal, so unsporting ". To which i laughed.
Again for those interested, i actually bubbled out in fourth, had he still been watching no doubt he would have taken great pleasure in this. But hey thats poker.
So what are your thoughts brmers. (extra points for makin me laugh bigfoot)

As for me, i used to talk a lot when playing but not now, Never chat at cash games but in tourns I might have a bit of banter to pass the time, but if doing so they are soon to fall victom to me. FEAR, For everything a reason, Face everybody and rule.
It can be quite usefull, but especially in Cashgames I try the opposit. I try to defent fishes, so they think I'm their friend and stay in a game with me xD But when your opponent curses your bad play, because of your luck (yep, sometimes bad beats happens the other way around too ), then I also try to motivate him to get on tilt But I allways try to appear as a noob, and would never use special poker language (like odds etc.), because you give a lot informations away with that. I also would never say "You played that badly, Raising preflop with Q9o, you donk!" because I give the information away that I wouldn't play like this and that I know preflop strategies, so be carefull what you say.

Usually i ignore the chat. So someone most have typed a lot of bull§$%&/$§$ before i would even type an answer. But against the right opponentes it may work.

I rarely use chat in cash games, just acknowledge good play. But if i am playing a sng i chat sometimes if i feel it can influence the game of my opponents or tilt them.

Like someone said befor. In cash game I never use chatbox. In SNG sometimes in early stage when i wait for good hands and for the same reason in MTTs, too. I prefer to talk with chipleader. I usually write something like "take care, im gonna take all your chips".

I think it will only work occasionaly. I dont belive it will sometime work against me, because i only pay atention to chat box when im on the final table of a tourney. Other times i am doing other things besides playing. Once i played HU against a guy that started writing "oh boy" "jesus" "2 at the time" "sory" , and i just understood he was playing two games at the same time, which can be kind of boring if you are only playing, but he seemed to be thrilling with it. I just write the normal "nh" or "gg", and never write "bye" or "lol", only if i know oponents.

I never START chatting against an opponent , only if my opponent writes something like "you lucky donk" then you only have to answer "this game is too easy with fish at the table" and hes on tilt for sure ...

Nice. After reading most of the above replies i'm of the opinion that Flangel is prob got the right ethic, i suppose its like most of the tactics in poker. Situational. Thanx brmers

Mmh im using to much time this chatbox to injure donk ( i know its bad ) but it make me so angry when **ckers like that play how they play. And yep, i like to comment the way of play of some the fishs XD
