let me see.....I play in a $5 double or nothing ....I win and I get 9.50 back....or something like that... so it really isn't a double up....I invested $5 didn't get $5 in return....
lol...not that it matters...just a funny thing ....it makes me smile everytime I play an almost double or nothing...
On what software are you playing? Did you pay 5$ or 5$ + 0.50$ for entry. Because if you only paied 5$, then 0.50$ will be taken away as an entry free from your winnings... o.O? or am i wrong?

i understand how the rake works etc....just find it funny thats all....if you bet me five dollars double or nothing and I win - don't try to pay your betting debt with $9.50

if you want 10$ for your 5$, then what are sites going to do? running server and games cost money and they want to earn money as well, otherwise whats the point of running a site

if u were to pay 5$ for the tort then 50cents entrance ( 5.50 ) ud still be paying rake there not gonna give u 11$ ud get 10$ and ur 50cents would be theres

as far as I see, on most sites I've played. You don't get $9.50 back for $5 investment.. you get $10 back for $5.50 investment...
Anyway, if you look at it logically, you pay a fee to one party for th privilege of making a bet (50c) in this case, then this is taken from the equation, you then bet exactly $5 against other party(s) and if you win from this partys(s) you get exactly $10 back (not $9.50) as the person you are betting the $5 against is a completely different entity than the one you paid 50c too and hence should not be viewed in the same equation in regards to your bet.
