No one off my family knows only my girlfriend. Some off my friends know, i dont talk much with them about it, they might see it as brag. I dont tell my family cos they see poker as gambling.
my girlfriend knows it, she doesn't really like it but she doens't care if I play when I'm not with here. All my friends know I play poker since they play to, so we complain against each other about our bad beats and stuff. At family meetings I play heads up with my nephew so they know it to and I even managed to get my uncly to start playing (he's a better player then me already). My parents didn't like it at first but now they really support me (when I showed them my winnings) so I think I'm really lucky in that way.

My wife is all for it. She also plays So, she is against it only when she wants to play and wants me to sit with kids. My kids. The older boy (5 years old) plays himself but only live (I taught him). I don't want him to ruin his sight staring at the monitor. The younger boy (6 months old) is a bit small to learn poker. Will have to wait for couple of years.

Problem is, everybody sees poker as a gambling game, while its a betting/skill game. If people see poker as a game where u must have talent to win instead off just gambling they chanche their mind about poker.

Well all I can say is I only have to answer to me. what do others think, I could not give a flying sh... Anyone who knows me knows i like to play, some say "tell me when you lose" they are the jelious idiots who cant be happy when outhers do well, outher friends respect it and now wont play me, Most of my family say "your just like your grandad" (he got banned from every casino near us and had to go to diffrent citys to play) for my its no problem, and if it becomes one its only my problem. I will at no point live my life according to outher ppls belifes and morals.
crow58 you sound ashamed, if the GF dont like it then do it as a hobby only and ALL money won is yours alone, as for the kids Id bet they know already.

I don't talk to much about this hobby with friends or parents: most of people think it is gambling and that it is dangerous cause you became more and more addict to. My wife think I'm too addict and she can't understand why as it is a stupid game.

my closest family all knows. My mother doesnt approve though since her father had a gamblingaddiction. And when i bought a new computer and a new bicycle to my daughter she didnt want to know it was pokerwinnings. She knows though. Usually she says: just be careful...and then dont want to talk about it anymore. Then on the other side i am not a highstake player and my winnings are relatively small. About my daughter, she also knows. But i usually dont play until in the evenings when she has gone to bed. Or if she is away playing with friends. Not because i hide it, just becoz when she is around id rather do thing with her. My sister also thinks its good that i get some extra money from poker, though she would never play herself. My boyfriends knows too, and he is fine with it as long as i dont sit infront of the computer the evenings when he is around. He had a run at it too and lost a lot of money though, so he wants me to limit my gambling to not more than two evenings per week. Which probably is a good strategy. Sometimes when i am alone though i play poker more than that, which i dont tell him. Of course i have also had some bad runs when playing poker being too tired and unfocused and steaming away the bankroll. Like at bwin. I got a bankrollsponsored with 50 dollars i think it was. And in two days i had made it into 1800 dollars something. And then i went highstaking cashtables 50/100 dollars limit holdem three oclock in the mourning and lost it all in half an hour!!! Such an idiot!! At that time it was frustrating not to have anyone to talk to, ventilate. I just had to comfort myslef with that i really hadnt lost anything... . Also since i dont have any creditcards i never loose money that i havent got. Then again its not really a subject one talks about in my family. Or among my friends. I dont believe any of my friends play. Its like others say that they see poker as gambling, which it is to a certain point even if its more. And gambling has a negative aura around it. Atleast in my surroundings. I dont believe in lies and hiding. If someone asks i always answer. I dont always tell though when noone is asking. I gather a part of me also carry that negative view on poker and other gambling. Coz i know how dangerous it can be if ur not good at setting limits and have a strong charachter.

I dont talk about poker with people who dont play at all. Any older people wont want to understand its not a pure luckgame. My gf knows i play and its ok for her, but im not showing her any graphs
Everyone knows and I don't care what other people think about me anyway! As long as I feel that I am in control of what I am doing and not gambling money I don't have. If they think playing poker online is bad, they need to look at some of these porn sites on line and what those people are doing. Now that's bad!

I think thats real problem, too. Otherwise my wife isnt against poker anymore (OK, i just bought her new shoes ). I play when kids ares sleeping so not problem for them. my 5 year old son sometimes watch when i play SNGs. He liked, when 1 player gone, if that is his father he dont mind
