Great review, I gave it a thumbs up. If I wanted to chat with you about sss and starting out on micros to build up a bankroll what would be the best way? I'm wondering if you add any variance to your starting hands, etc? Just little tips and tricks to playing at lower levels. I have some feed back, but probably not as much as u do. But if others joined in to share it could grow to something bigger from here.

Well
If U want to start a bankroll from micro limits and SSS, whats the bankroll U have?
20?50?100?

I need this question first answered coz the play / or variants ( Cash, Sng etc) will vary due to the bankroll U have available.

Right now I made a min deposit of I believe $20 or $25 at Cake. I have worked my way up to $50 grinding with sss. I only made the min because I was checking out the site and wanted to see how the rake back worked. I didn't take into account for the rakeback payments I have received so I have doubled my investment so far. I play full ring games on the micros in an attempt to grow from the bare minimum up to something to play with someday. So currently have a little over $50 to work with. Does this info help?

Very nice guide Smile lots of usefull thing in it. I can strongly recommend harrington on holdem 1-2 for a very very good poker book. Was really that book that kickstartet my pokergame and startet to make me go deep in mtt's.

Thanx
Thumbs Up

This may be none of my business, but Cake ring games rock! There are donks everywhere. I turned $20 into $120 in about a month or so playing mostly $1.00 s-n-g's and the .02/.04 c. ring games. After I hit $85 I would take $5 and play a STT (single tbl trny) once a day for a shot at $25, sometimes more than once depending on the out-come. The games are softer in the late evening to early in the morning, U.S. time. Hope that was helpful, too. Good luck and see you there? Blink

This is an interesting topic. Can I agree w/both of you? I believe there is a method to both sizes, even for a small roll. Finding the right game/site, for instance I was at Fool Tilt (when I played there) and noticed that the pot-limit hold'em 6-max was the most profitable at .01/.02 to .02/.05. Over at U.B. the full ring games were hitting nice. Some days it's like fishing on a familiar lake. When the catfish stop biting on one side it's time to move to another section for bass.

Yes Cake does have some good tables at US times. I've noticed the only time(s) I have troubles/bad beats is when I come across those players that will call your hand with anything and get lucky and hit. Hands I wouldn't even limp with, let alone raise/call an all in reraise. Cake only has NL4, but I am working with $50, when Cake has a reload bonus I could change that because I found out you can layer bonuses. But now I am more interested in just trying to get there with what I have. It's now more of a personal challenge for myself.
I haven't tried any sng's yet, I would take Jewcifers' advice tho. He is dead on with the Cake site/play times. (Just warning people don't be shocked when someone sticks you with a bad bead with terrible hands.) Some people on that site won't fold any face card no matter what the raise.
Plus, if memory serves me right. Cake doesn't allow tracking software like poker tracker, etc. But not to sure because I am not using anything, so my feedback on software tools won't be of any help.

Also, I can see why you need some space. Otherwise you could fill up this site with each topic. For example, table selection. Talking about what you are looking for % wise, # of players, etc., etc. The list just keeps growing.

I have some other toughts also maybe to share on this matter on cake

I am not a experienced player on Cake netw.
Altho donks and suckouts are everywhere.
Where are donks and fish = that attracts sharks anyway.
As for iH8suckouts : stick to 4NL min buy in and leave the tables when u doubled, if u ar working with 50$ atm only.
Taking a reload bonus or bonus on top would be great ofcourse to booost the roll U have atm.
I would stay away from SnG atm till u hit the 100$-150$

In my case how I play and divide my roll is simple :

I explained it once here : I have a roll for every type / variant I am playing
NLHE ringgames, Omaha PLO and other limit games and MTT tournament roll, this is purely coz I can afford to split AND to maintin and lower my variance.

As for tracking software : I played many years without it, and now I am even using it less then 6months ago. some players only rely on stats, what makes U play like a bot. I am bigger player live ( 1000NL min) and there its the instincts that count, so I trust more often my reads and instincts then stats. Its usefull, but don't make all your bets according to tools.

I will make a comparison of some trackers this week in on e of my threads, probably this one, or a seperate sticky one.

Liv ftw goddamned! Heart Heart Marry me Heart Heart

That's pretty much what I am doing atm and have stayed out of sngs. Just waiting for cake to have a reaload so I can do that. Also, I have been leaving the table when I double. It is true, the fish and donks do attracked some good sharks. They make out pretty good but they obviously have a bankroll to work with because of some of the plays/calls these guys make. It works out good for me because alot of the times they double me up and I can go. I am looking forward to the poker tracking post. Also, are you gonna do one on odds calcs.? Just wondering to see if it's worth even looking into those too. I googled trackers and calcs, there is alot of them out there.

Ye well I was planning to make one about Trackers, Odds, calculators, HUDs, and all kinda different tools.
I just have to look into when. It's not that I get paid for doing this Smile (not that I bother at all)
But mainly coz alot of people are not well informed about stuff.

I was thinking of starting to make one Holdem manager Vs Pokertracker first

Liv I luv U , Marry me and I waste my bankroll on a giant rock Heart Heart

I just read the baseball thread, the problem is , i never went into sportsbetting or selecting teams.
However, 100£ is a nice boost, but I would go crazy yet on the 11$ buy ins.
Make a balance, and still play the 6$ for now and take some 11$ as well. Just don't mainly move up yet to the 11$ only in my opinion.

How to choose a room As a beginning player Part 1

Well in many occasions players tend to choose a pokerroom for the wrong reasons.
I want to clarify my own toughts on this one since I see alot of questions rising on different forums.

Before signing up on a specific room or network, U have to wonder or ask yourself a couple questions :

1. Wich games I play
2. Do I want a huge deposit bonus / no deposit Bonus or Rakeback?
3. Do u like big networks or either smaller rooms?

1. Games U play :

In my opinion and thats how I tend to choose a room is mainly what to play on a specific room.
I have my roll divided for cashgames and MTTs.
If U are a beginner you probably also will skip the Multitable cashgames / Sngs.
A. your roll is probably is no big enough to do it
B. You lose focus and concentration

My advice then is : stick to 1 or 2 tables as a beginner ( it sounds boring) and move up when U are able to.

Some rooms have better benefits when playing tournaments or Sngs then others
this is mainly due to the overlay or the RAKE / Fees u pay when participating.
I suggest new players to take a good look into this before signing up a room coz fees can kill ur small bankroll in the long run.

On low limits U find any sort of game or enough players to compete against.

2. Bonus / rakeback

Many people are looking very shortterm without seeing upcoming benefits.

Take a room where U get a no deposit bonus : this will in 9/10 cases EXCLUDE U from rakeback.
Rakeback is a value in poker that cannot be misjudgded. its one of the most valuable things in online poker, wheter U are a small staker or highballer.

So If u have a spare $ left then I would suggest to skip a no deposit bonus and link your account ( for example here at bankrollmob) on rakeback.
If you plan to stay at the pokerroom for a while it can be very valuable.
I get thousands of $$ in return due to rakeback every month.

There are different networks with different kind of % in rakeback. choose wisely according to what U are looking for as a player.

If U want a shortterm benefit from a room I suggest a Kickbackbonus or huge deposit deal, but thats more for the average and advanced player that have built a bankroll already.

3.Big networks or smaller rooms?

Many players just sign up at the biggest rooms online. wich is not wrong, but there are alot of other trustworthy rooms out there.
If u play on a big room the competition is also more fierced.
I suggest U go to pokerscout and U find a whole list of all available rooms on all networks.

Before signing up, read some reviews or comments from players. Check their reputation and feedback.

NL, FL, PL

I see alot of people going automaticly to NL holdem.

Wich I think is a mistake by not trying the different types of games, for example :

NL : U can lose your stack with one hand.
Fixed Limit : U can minimize your losses and stick to your top 20 premium hands.

Some rooms offer a wide variety from games and types

NL holdem to badugi
Some rooms have more limit games that are suitable for a Limit player. wich in this case If u are a limit player, consider this as a +.
Limit games and Pot Limit games also gives u more rakeback in the end so its not a bad choice of trying them or playing them.
