I was watching a doco on daniel Negranue, he was talking about how he feels the WSOP has turned into a tournament for the lucky and how the idea of a pro poker player is opening up for too many people. he was talking about having another main event shoot out style now he says that it will prevent the massive luck factor envoled in the main event it stops things such as players gettin a large amount of chips such as the Italian Dario Mineri on last years WSOP massive CL just trying to steam roll his way thought the entire tournament.
Anyway he makes a very vaild point that it while show who is the best alround NL/HE player. ANY THOUGHTS?

I agree to some point, it has become a circus, with all this media hype and marketing interest around the WSOP (but let´s not forget that it is the price payed for transforming poker into such a well-know sport!). As for the luck factor, just look at the odds, if you were participating in a tournament of 100, and if you were participating in a tournament of 1000.

Sorry but what the hell you are thinking about dario is one of the best HU players around and he was CL pretty deserved ... and he is also Pokerstars pro so even if there some pro main event he will be there... and i think WSOP should be like its now since its good and luck is just a part of game ...

i agree with 4444, luck does play a huge part in poker at times... but its not everything... and if your a "pro" you should be able to bounce back and over-come an amature with luck.. yea some times it goes completly wrong and you out but that can happen anytime...

i think daniel has a point, but i allso heard an idea about a $100000 buy in event that will deffinately decrease the amount of amateurs trying to get lucky because they'll have to sell theire houses to play

shoot out would work well. it would mean that no single player would be a huge chip leader at any point of the game. and i feel that it does make it a more even game. would take a whole lot longer to compete though.

Well its ok , only think i hope to this WSOP will not happen is thats Jerry Yang or some similar guy dont win this time - - i hated him so much how he was lucing during final table and always prayed during "gamble game" lol ... and his screming "YEEEEEEEEES LORD YEEEEEEEES" bla - -

yes well that's what happens if you use 3 out of every 5 minutes for som sentimental story about how and why someone is playing i mean who cares we just wanna watch poker right? there''s plenty of time for sentimental stories in intervieuws afterward they should give a ten minute penalty for praying just like swearing in fact they should bring swearing back it;s more a part of poker than praying and looking like greg raymer should have some penalry as well
