Owen Williams, Meirion Hopkins, Ieuan Griffiths and Mike Harwood are four card-playing friends from South Wales who meet up once in a while to play their favorite card game Crush. Since all of them have been playing for many, many years - they fought they had seen it all. But, when they met up a few weeks ago, they were about to experience something extremely unusual in the very first deal of the night.
After that all 52 cards had been dealt out, everyone started to sort their cards. Owen Williams was ready first, as he looked closer at his hand, he soon realized that he had a "straight" - A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K. This was of course something very unusual and he couldn't wait for the game to begin so that he could take home the pot and show his amazing hand to his friends.
However, to his big surprise, he was not the only one who had picked up a monster hand as all his friends (Meirion Hopkins, Ieuan Griffiths and Mike Harwood) had the same hand.
"I was just amazed when I sorted my cards and realized what I had. It was the first deal of the evening and I was the first one to finish sorting my cards. A run through takes the kitty - so I thought I'd won £1.65."
"If you wanted to get this outcome on purpose I would have thought that it would be impossible."; said Williams in an interview with an online magazine.
According to Maths lecturer Mr Lewis the probability of this occurring in a single deal is 0.000000000016339, or 1 in 61,204,166,001.
