5 Chinese companies to create poker tournament with $100 million prize pool

Posted on 30 November 2011 by "T".

Five Chinese companies are currently making plans for a poker tournament with a $100,000,000 guaranteed prize pool - the greatest guarantee in poker history. The tournament is planned to be held in Macau, China, in 2013 and only 500 players can enter it. The name of the tournament will be Macau Pro Am Poker, and it would be the richest poker event ever held.

William Murray, an American businessman, is speaking on behalf of one of the five companies.

"The goal is now to get 500 participants, with one third coming from the Far East, third from the U.S. and one third from other countries, said William Murray, adding that the first prize at a prize pool of $100,000,000 will be $25,000,000."

with 500 players allowed, ¿What will be the prize structure? and how much corresponds to first place?

Only chinese businessmen have financial resources to think ( and most of all ) to organize a tournament like this: how much will win the first one ?

This is a huge first place prize money, these chinese companies can pull it off, because the economy of China is growing exponentially.
 SuperNoob01/12/2011 06:17:46 GMT
we can expect many chinese businessmen to play this tournament, as not many poker players can afford that high buyin.
 pacopeca01/12/2011 07:10:35 GMT

Time to start a new staking thread...
Stake- $200k
Games- 1 x $200k 500man Sushi special
% share 50/50 + Terracotta Warrior

Or, is it best just to organise a game like this, 1 mill in fees, nice.

I like it that china gets more and more involved into poker, I really hope for a huge asian boom right at this moment so we can have games as easy as they were in the 2000's.

Wow! I would love to go to Macau! I have to say I would be very happy to win the $25,000,000 first place prize as well. Tongue $200,000 entry fee is very pricey though. I don't think I will be entering a tournament this big any time soon. Smile
