Rob Yong on Recent Changes for Fair Play at partypoker

partypoker made some changes to its poker software on June 17, 2019, aiming to make partypoker a fair, honest and safe place to play at.

Rob Yong, Dusk Till Dawn owner and partypoker LIVE founder, has enumerated and explained further on some points about the changes.

#1 HUDs
We banned the use of "HUDs" (Heads-up Displays) and also stopped your opponents from downloading your hand histories into databases and software to analyse your play or to sell or swap your hand histories with other players to gain an advantage against you. Here is an image of a player using a HUD in play:

#2 New Alias
We also asked you to select a new partypoker alias upon log-in so that the databases that hold your hand histories and the software that analyses your play is of no further use against you. Here is an image of a player being analysed by software:

#3 MyGame
We understand that you may want to review your own play and since you can no longer download your hand histories, we will work with players to improve MyGame, letting you review your own hands, stats, and results.
Here is the MyGame tab in the partypoker lobby, and game analysis:

#4 Security
We invested heavily in our Game Integrity before making these changes. It wouldn't be smart to inform bot users, cheats and angle-shooters of our plans, but I will personally be open and transparent on our results and KPIs.

#5 More
We have over 50 more improvements in progress to make partypoker fairer. You can keep up to date on these improvements, express your views and suggest ideas via my @rob_yong_ Twitter account.
Keep the faith.

I agree with this but not entirely. Those who paid the money to use these programs will lose the opportunity to use the programs and they will be upset. I think big stakes players should not use such a program but players at low stakes yes. Companies that created these programs will also be disappointed. A referendum on this issue would be fine.

While I fully agree with the initiative to ban illegal data mining/selling that ultimately led to bots and HUDs, blocking the whole hand history is gonna make it impossible for us to verify party-poker's random number generator. You can,t analyze millions of hands to see if the RNG is fair if you don't have that data. So now the players can't screw us, but the site itself could and we wouldn't be able to see it. I trust partypoker as a poker site though, but it would be naive to not see the risk in that...

I am so glad they are gonna do this i can't actually describe how much HUD use frustrated me because i never used one.
Players were even able to see your histories for god sake.
They said that they have more then 50 improvements in progress which i am excited for and to be honest if it all turns out good party poker is gonna be the only site I'am gonna play on.

Since when HUD become something that is compromising the 'integrity' of the game? The same sh1t is annoying on Jokerstars as well they are really dumbing down the experience for everybody...
Whenever there is a new surge of russian/ukranian bots mining on cash tables and sngs - they do jacksh1t about them until its years to late yet this is a priority.
haha

This is a rather interesting update in PartyPoker policy .... I noticed that lately when you hover over a player, it doesn’t show what country this player is from .... Although usually in all poker rooms the player’s identity to any country is displayed .... As for poker programs, I have never used them .... so nothing has changed for me

I agree with everything here. The did what was necessary for the game to be
more transparent and equal for all the players.
These images with players using aids like HUDs says it all.
And who cares if they paid money to use them in the first place?
Now if you can track a player by your own data, is another story.
The bad thing is with your own history. They should resolve this as soon as possible.

when such radical decisions are made, in any case, it is not always possible to take into account all the nuances .... and therefore surely someone will be unhappy .... somehow something will go wrong .... but this is a process when PartyPoker is trying to make the game more honest for everyone .... and of course there are all sorts of obstacles along the way.

Yeah, being able to review your own hand history is mandatory in my opinion.

Never liked HUDs and bots so I think the initiative itself to make poker cleaner and more fair is great but not at all costs. Atleast when I get screwed by people colluding or cheating, I still have a decision to make and I can sometimes see that they aren't playing normally. On the other hand, being screwed by the RnG is almost impossible to spot unless you collect a LOT of data.

So yeah I like the idea but they need to let us see our own history
