7 seconds away from €9.1 million

Joel Ifergan couldn't believe his eyes when he realized that he had 7 correct numbers on the 2 lottery tickets he had bought from a betting shop nearby his home in Montreal. A very happy and excited Joel Ifergan took the tickets and went to the betting shop to check how much he had won. Once he arrived and handed over the tickets to the person working at the betting shop, he got some good news followed by some really, really bad news. The good news was that he had won €9,147,140. The bad news was that both tickets had expired.

The lottery tickets were processed before 21:00, but due to some delay between the shop and the lottery company's server, the win was claimed at 21:00:07 - 7 seconds too late. In other words, the lottery tickets were not worth a single dime. Joel Ifergan, however, has not given up the big win and he hopes that, with a little bit of help from lawyers, he will get the money since he claimed the win before 21:00.

We can only hope that Joel Ifergan will win the case and get his money, otherwise it's probably one of the worst "bad beats" in the history of gambling

If he has the chance to win €9 million, I'm sure he'll find a good lawyer. Anyway, if I was him, I wouldn't have gone to the lottery shop in order to know how much money I won.

I have never heard of a lottery where you have to cash in your tickets before 21.00? And if you are 7 seconds late, they are worthless?! Why is this? Quite pequliar, indeed. I have no idea of what the rules might be in Sweden, but I am sure that you can wait at least like 3 months, or half a year, with the ticket in some drawer, before it expires.

I have only one thing to say: This s*it is rigged!

there wasnt a delay in claiming the money , but delay happened while buying the ticket.
last eligible tickets r sold at 9 pm but his was bought 7 seconds later than that, and it was eligible for draw of next week. and someone else had already won that week's draw ( for which his ticket was not eligible) by same numbers and he wants his "share" of 27 mil $ prize money.
btw this news is pretty old, aint it ??
