A man from Timmins, Ontario, Canada will be celebrating Christmas early with a million dollars more on his pocket after winning the Guaranteed $1 Million grand prize from the November 30 Lotto 6/49 draw. John Miller said while he picked up his winnings at the OLG Prize Center in Toronto, "I enjoy playing the lottery draw games. Clearly, now, LOTTO 6/49 is my favourite," he jokingly added.
Miller found out about his big win a few days after the draw when visiting the mall together with his daughters...
"I was at the mall and I used the ticket checker. I won small amounts on a couple of other tickets but it was the third ticket that left me staring at the screen. I saw, ‘Big Winner' flash on the screen and I thought I won a $1,000. We all went to the retailer to find out more about my $1,000 win. The terminal froze and I saw ‘Big Winner' on the screen, but I didn't see a prize amount. OLG called and explained what was happening. The retailer then told me I won $1 million! My daughters and I just stared at each other, read the validation slip and saw the number but it was so unbelievable, we really didn't say much. We left the mall in a big hurry."
What does he plan to do with his winnings?
"I am a Northern Ontario boy and I absolutely have to get myself a new pickup truck. It's great for driving in the winter and fun in the summer. I am also thinking about buying a new home. Big enough for my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom I plan to celebrate and share with."
