UK’s new super casino  0
The UK’s second largest city, Birmingham, looks set to become the new home of a Las Vegas-style casino complex in 2015.

Thanks to an injection of cash from Genting UK, the £89 million complex will feature a luxury hotel, cinema, retail outlets as well as bars, restaurants and, of course, a large casino.

The certainty of the project moved a step closer yesterday as the casino company formally selected Galliford Try to complete the construction project.

Commenting on their successful bid for the building contract, Greg Fitzgerald, CEO of Galliford Try, said:

"We are delighted we have completed a successful negotiation with Genting UK and now look forward to starting on site on what will be one of the most prestigious projects in the Midlands of recent times."

The recent proliferation of new casinos in the UK, including PokerStars investment in one of London's newest venues, is a sure sign that the industry is performing well despite tight economic conditions in Europe.

This has been getting said for over 10 years. First Blackpool, then Manchester, now Birmingham. Central and south England don't need it IMO. Give something to us northerners for a change.

I think even at one time they said this would happen in Birkenhead.

If it finally happens, no matter where it will be, it will attract many all over europe.
It may be different for uk people in what city will be built, but for all the rest
doesnt make any difference.
Lots will take the opportunity for a few days of vacations with some gambling in Smile
The asian market is picking up but for the europeans is more expensive to go there.

I agree - the last time I went to Birmingham - it was closed unless you go to the curry mile or need to catch a train!!!!

Any brits know of the best casino in London. I am a member of the two in Reading, but they are not very accommodating.

Perhaps we could arrange a meet up and take the place, (wherever it is), by storm !!!!!

Gl to all mobsters........................

Now there's a thought. Lots of talk in the past about online brm tourneys but never a live meeting. I think it would be more difficult to arrange than online but it sounds like fun.

Imagine if we could get a dozen brm players to meet at a casino and fight it out in whatever tournament was on that night. It would be expensive travel and hotel wise, but I've enjoyed going to new casinos in the past, the grosvenor in coventry was amazing and it wasn't that expensive in the travelodge.

This probably wouldn't work due to the distance and the fact most of us have busy lives but if we could get minimum 20 members interested someone could phone the casino and arrange a good deal, real casinos are always looking for new sign ups and you can sometimes get roulette vouchers for introducing new members. The better the offer the more likely we can get more brm members to join us. If tony is on board and spreads the word it could potentially, maybe, just work. But obviously it's hugely geographically restrictive.

It's great to hear that big towns are starting to creat this kind of facilities, i imagine that such a large complex should also easily host events like EPT or even WSOPE Big Smile

Just some seconds ago i also read that in Toronto there will be something similar built Smile

Birmingham is not that bad and in anycase it would depend on where in birmingham it was going to be. I love the idea of a BRM even upon openin...maybe BRM could d something to coincide with the opening just for BRM'ers.

With a conurbation of over 4 million people, and the best travel network in the UK, it makes total sense to put it in Birmingham.

Being close to most mainline rail links, the M6 and the largest airport outside of London, then its common sense to put it there.

Add to that its 50% cheaper to stay in Birmingham than it is London.

That being said, whatever the merits of putting it in Birmingham it doesnt alter the fact that Birmingham is a god damn dump..

The best place to go would be DUSK TILL DAWN in nottingham. Its fairly central and a damn good night out. ( leave the credit card at home because the cash games can soar ).

I am up for a weekend in the new year meeting up with some BRMers and making a real weekend of it.

I always heard that it’s in times of crisis that people tend to invest more on games. The lack of money makes you want to try to put your hands on some in a faster way, and the promoters of games involving big prizes tend to win with these moves. When a coutry’s economy is wealthy, it will be the lovers and the riches who will keep developing some activity on this area, but when the time is of crisis, the poorest ones will take the chance on the game, and, even if they enter with low amounts, it will be a lot of people with a little amount of money, which turns into big profits to the casino owners. It’s interesting to discuss this.
