Hi guys,
I was wondering, are there mobsters who play Omaha Hi/Lo? Since I started playing on Pokerstars a couple of weeks ago I began with regular Omaha. And lost more than I thought I would lose on cash games (up to 40 dollars or so). I played 0.02 0.05 stakes and multi-tasking on 3 tables.
I forgot about Omaha Hi/Lo variant which I played quit often on other Pokersites before. To the point - today I suddenly remembered I loved that game because it has more strategy in to it, less variance (u go both for Hi and Lo so you have less chance of losing all your stack), new players etc. I tried it out, played almost 50 minutes (2 tables 0.02 0.05) and won 9 dollars. Finally an up-swing. I think this game fits me. And hope for the fishes to come (fishes are less likely to win on Omaha Hi/Lo than PLO).
Want to know the opinion of those who also tried it out.

If you are going to get serious about Omaha Hi/Lo then i would like to tell you about recommendation which might help you. Have you ever read about the...
Hutchison Point Count System for Omaha High/Low? He is considered to be a true master of the game and I read online that he started with a bankroll of just $50 and in 4 months built it to over $600K. to me that is some darn fine bankroll building. You might want to take a look at it.
If you can not find it let me know and I will post part of an article on it.

Hey rafiko....there's an omaha promotion over on PokerStars right now somewhere in the PokerSchool thing. Go have a look see. You take the quiz,....then get a ticket or two worth $3 to use for some tournaments. I don't know if it's worth it to you being only $3,...but maybe you could spin that into some big bucks, while knocking off some newbies....lol...

indeed demodawggy is right- if you pass omaha quiz on Pokerschool u will get two $1.50 tickets. you can get 3 extra $1.50 tickets by depositing $20+ with bonus code OMAHA. so basically you can get 5 tickets ($7.50 worth) without risking a penny of your own. btw. i do play omaha hi/lo- think it's a great game, but when good players are at the table it can get really frustrating...easy money is out there only at micro stakes imo...

Wow Ronin that's great :X from 50 to 600K ? if the soft let the players win and don't give that fuchin badbeats i think all players who play good PLO8 can make not 600K in 4 months but over than 5-10K / month but how you can win on FTP when you get at 5 hands over than 2 badbeats ?
Pre Flop: (t1200) Hero is SB with J :spade: A :diamond: A :spade: 4 :club: 2 folds, CO calls t800, 1 fold, Hero raises to t3200, 1 fold, CO calls t2400
Turn: (t21600) J  (2 players) Hero bets t1132 all in, CO calls t1132
River: (t23864) A  (2 players - 1 is all in)
Final Pot: t23864 CO shows T :spade: 5 :club: 8  4  (HI: a flush, Ace high; LO: 7,5,4,2,A) Hero shows J :spade: A :diamond: A :spade: 4 :club: (HI: three of a kind, Aces) CO wins t11932 CO wins t11932

Didn't know they gave tournament money for free , thanks for pointing that out guys. I registered with Pokerschool, but because I'm in Belgium they led me to Intellipoker instead. There I can win 3 x 1,50 dollar SNG NLHE and 20$ reload bonus. Totaly worth to take those quizes. There is nothing more fun than free money.
Ronin I searched it down and seems interesting stuff for getting to know what starting hands are better to call with / raise with preflop. I already have a feeling with what kind of hands I should play with.
Today I did not do so well, especially because 1) I had no hands on the right time 2) I had both high and low on the turn and went all in with a guy for almost 10 dollars, he got his str8 on the turn and it was a split pot.
By the way Doarulle I think you played that hand the right way, just another bad beat...

Well searched it with google --> nice , usefull system.
I have played omaha Hi/lo regurlarly in the past. I think I mostly played the right starting hands but for me the system ouwld like me when I have to call/raise preflop.
Also It s very important to observe your opponents (with what type of hands do they raise/ call other raises)
A lot of players raise when they have A2 .
Also be aware of the risks of splitted pots (when it s a multipler player pot)
example : 3 players When you have a low-nuts
it s possible : low pot is split into 2, high pot to another player
result : you pot +/- 1/3 f the chips (money) into the pot and recieve only 1/4 back

Omaha hi/lo is riskier than Omaha Hi. Many times there are players betting big, reraising the pot just, just by chasing the low. And that can kick you out of a high hand which isnt the story in Hi. Different approach for each game.
Even more ways to lose money with a winning hand when you get quarter back for example.

Mober, I disagree with you. You have to be patient and wait for the right cards so that you can get both Hi and Lo when the other players as only one of them (or neither)... You got more ways to outplay the fishes - with high and low. And if for example you have a bad beat with high, u still get a split if u have the low hand...
Thus, to describe it in physical terms, the degrees of freedom for winning is much higher in Omaha Hi/Lo than Omaha Hi. But everyone has his own opinion - I guess...

And hoe long can you wait in a single game to get both hi and low in a single hand. When you get quartered 2-3 times in a row you will see what i mean.
Its not possible unles you are extremely lucky to keep going for both hi and lo in a single hand.

About the only time I play Omaha Hi/Lo is if I get in to a gamer of HORSE which I really enjoy. I try to play the freeroll on Carbon and the $2.20 buyin games, but that's the only time I see any Hi/LO Omaha. I will say it's better odds then straightup Omaha Hi, but so many hands possible so you have to watch all outs.

If you get good cards it can become a very profitable game, but sometimes nothing holds up. And the really painful as i said, is when you have a winning hand which is a split pot and you get less than you put it. That hurts even more than a loss.
