Aye pinotte,as you say i have run down the clock a few times myself, but i'm the same as you i wouldn't ask the other players so i'm saying well done demo.
I do this all the time in satellites, near the bubble, because it's advantageous to do so. You're paying less antes and blinds than the other tables, so you have a better chance at survival. I've never asked anyone else to do so, however, because that would be collusion.
It does however paint a target on your back, a little; they'll steal your blinds by min raising, etc... On the other hand, they'll give up more easily when you push, mistaking your stalling, for extreme tightness.

Probably not because all the other tables are most likely doing it as well. Although if you don't, with the other tables running the clock down, then you're going to be at a disadvantage
What I do get wound up at is people running the clock down when it's hand for hand. It only takes one person to do this to bring the whole tournament to grinding halt. Just a waste of time.

This is a tactic that i have seen very often in freeroll tournaments. I have no problem with this because if you have ever played in freerolls you will notice how slow the play goes when you get within touching distance of the money

I have seen "playing the clock" tactic many times and used it a few times too 'cause it works. It is annoying - but the point of poker is to keep score (collect chips, etc ) and the only way to do this in tourneys is to cash. Good strategy Demodawggy!!! And you have more chutzpah than I do - was I the table with ya 'cause someone begged like that recently at my table too TTG

I guess it's annoying for the other players but for those that have a very low stack, bad cards and are minutes away from itm it can be a pretty good strategy to get some money
I only applied it once on a 888pokerfreeroll, but a very substantial one, couple of minutes made the difference and i got 3.5 dollars then.

I bet he did that to get some more points for the leader board and not the 5 cents Although he could need that money as an add on for a buy in somewhere.
It has been a while since i last saw him around here. I see he is in the leader board at 53 place and pinotte currently 13th from the most know BRM members, well done.

You are in the money already in this leader board. At least so far. With about three more points or $ you will climb up to the next step with 30$ as prize. Still plenty of days to go so you can get even higher than that. Good luck

Playing the clock is just another part of life, or do I mean poker? It is a tactic oft used, but rarely requested of other players to join in, usually most see your predicament and oblige without the request. I do concur with Zeroster though, that people who run down the clock while playing hand for hand don't nderstand the relative moment in time and that they are simply wasting theirs and everyone elses time. Stop running down the clock when in hand to hand!

I bet not many of these understand how hand for hand works. have seen many times such players, i used to try explaining them, but it was useless. Now i just wait for the time to pass without saying anything. Either way it doesnt take long enough to get out of that mode.

G'day mate
Well I find this very interesting. There are some who would argue that it was a form of cheating to have asked the other players to run there clocks for him as well. It could be seen as table collustion. Still I am glad it worked out for him. best wishes to you all be cool

lol I've seen people do this when it's 1 off the bubble and going hand-by-hand.. Pretty funny; since all it does is makes your stack shorter (blinds bigger). It's a bit of an angle shoot anyway, though I suppose a legitimate enough tactic in satellites and such.

I think it definitely becomes collusion when you involve other people on the table, it's pretty much the literal definition of colluding.
