How to keep cool when you can't win ?  0
tilt is getting to me but i just cant stop playing
i was just playing 2MTT and i went out in both them at the same time
first one i had AA i raised he reraised i pushed all-in , he calls with KJ
flop 9-3-6 turn 10 river Q
second i raised he called , i had 55
flop 5-6-8 he pushed all-in , he had 7-9 off-suit , who freaking calls 3 big blinds with 7-9

this is just bad beats , i had just now
i have been losing with AK against AQ \ QJ
and much worse , i really cant recall the last time i lost while i was actually behind

i am sure that luck is a big factor in poker , anyone who say that is pure skill , he is dead wrong

my question how one could keep his calm while he is experiencing such a run , because i feel bad and thinking of stop poker , when in a hand i am 95% ahead and still cant win then it is useless to keep playing

especially when you are in late stages of the tournament...

solution is to punch a hole in your screen or maybe even 2 > then realize you f*ed op really bad buy a new screen > start over > get mad > punch in another screen > will make you quit poker = no more bad beats ? Agree

Yep. Keep an old outdated laptop, and smash it up, when the beats at the tables are to severe. Alternatively you can use a stone old keyboard to do the same thing. And you can always do this Aww crap!

If you multi table prepare yourself as you have to be able to deal with what is happening on both tables for example if you are winning on one tables and on the other table you happen to lose a was near the bubble and you get tilted and you all in in the next hand on the other table thinking you deserve to win after that loss but it ends up losing you the spot again because of the tilt so prepare yourself mentally ! Anyway good luck and have fun mate!

Without joking though, the best way is to treat yourself nice (non related to poker at all). You're playing well but you don't feel the reward instantly, because that's how poker works. So, if poker itself doesn't reward you for playing good, do it yourself Blink

Personally, when I keep getting f*cking ridiculous suckouts over and over again in any format of the game, I would take a short break, pamper myself with breast milk and extremely hot shower.
Everything will fade away eventually even you can't seem to deal or accept it at the moment.

Just keep in mind thay any 2 cards can win. Your KA is only better preflop. Once the flop comes it may no longer be any good. I constantly see players pushing all in on flop with KA and such and completely missing the board....its just ace high and the guy with 9-10 o has a pair and open ender.

Boxing or stuff like that can help if you have one in your home. Great way to release all of you anger and most of the time forget about it. Give it a try.

No. You just have the wrong additude towards the game, that's all.

If you can master a way of keeping cool when everything seems to be going wrong, you are well on your way to becoming a good player. You can be the best player in the world but if you dont have any luck as well, it counts for very little

Luck is a big factor short term. Long term skills are a bigger factor Smile

Luck comes and goes... However, skills (or at the very least experience) can only improve, unless you get stuck in a negative state of mind. It's always frustrating when bad luck comes at a key moment especially deep in a tourny but that happens to everyone. It's how you deal with it that makes the difference.

You should be aware of the big variance in MTT, you can switch to CG if you want less variance but it's more difficult than MTTs.
I am very happy to be a part of such a great community, wish you the best of luck at the tables, off the tables, behind the tables, under the tables and in your life in general.

The best thing to do is stop playing and go do something else that can take poker out of your mind.

Personally I like to run or bike, but when my girlfriend is home I even simulate bad beats so she can take my mind out of the game. Evil

Sometimes there's just nothing you can do except keep playing good. Anything can happen once the chips are in, we all know it, its the gambling part of poker.

But sometimes poker is just easy, the hands seem to play themselves, donks give you cash when they're drawing dead and it is quite funny. Smile

I just played one of those hands on Duck: I sit down at a 5c/10c ring game with 3,40$ with only 4 players at the table and they all got me covered. First hand on the BB im dealt 97 of spades. Everyone limps in. I check. Flop is 8 10 4 with 2 diamonds. SB donk bets 20c into the 40c pot. I call, UTG calls. On the turn: 6 of hearts, I make the nuts. SB donk bets all-in... I instant call, UTG calls too. They had 64o and 78o... Big Smile
