"On Friday night, PokerStars.com announced that it will be rolling out online casino gaming alongside its internet poker. As a result, on Saturday morning, I terminated my endorsement contract with them.
Their news was very sudden, so I didn’t have much time to consider my position, but I knew I had to act quickly before I could think better of it. Obviously this is a scary and sad decision for me to make. I have been with PokerStars since 2007 and Team Pro has been a core part of my identity. Obviously I will miss the money and am nervous of managing without it. Also, ironically enough, my plan for the next year or two had been to travel less and play more online."
lol, she thought this company was all about moral and positiveness up until they went for grubbing more gambling money? it doesnt make sense, if she do this after black friday i could see the motive but now its just meaningless

also, nobody will care
I disagree. It's not the morals of the site that bothers her in particular. If you read the whole blog entry it sounds more like she can't, in good conscience, steer people towards a casino.
And as for nobody caring, yeah it will mean little to most players but Stars are probably regretting losing the only 2X EPT winner. Certainly not enough to stop them offering casino games though
All that said, I doubt that pro player endorsement has any real serious affect on a sites traffic anyway.

I think she will find it preaty quickly, but leave pokerstars for what? She didnt leave only pokerstars, she left big fat paycheck comming to her account evry month... that far from someone would do because of principals... stupid principals
Pokerplay is gambling too. They try to make it sofisticated and culturally deep (or make it out like a purely startegy game like chess), but all that is just smoke and mirrors. Really no different than playing slots or betting sports. Huge majority of players will be loosing players in all 3. Principle my a$$. She cannot say this with a staright face, that up until this point everything was alright here.

....I'm sure her TV career and extremely successful comedian boyfriend will mean she won't be scraping around trying to get enough money together for her next meal....
For anyone who knows Victoria Coren-Mitchell, they'll know that this was a decision based on principles. She is a great women, who will succeed with whatever she does... I'd wish her luck for the future, but there's no need.

It doesn't actually sound like you read the article. If you haven't then maybe you should. If you have then I apologize.
The point is, in her mind, there is a difference between casino games and poker. That's what she believes and it's what she based her decision on.
Whether anyone else believes that poker and other types of gambling are the same is immaterial, she doesn't.
So yes, I think it's a decision guided by principles. They may be misguided principles but they're principles non the less.

Congratulations to Vicky Coren for departing from Poker Stars. I mean no matter the reason quitting Poker Stars is always a good decision. But what did she think Poker Stars was or is? A non profit organization?

She doesn't really need it. Most people in the UK know her as a TV presenter, writer and newspaper columnist. Not many of the general population are aware that she plays poker.

I red it otherwise why would I stated something like that above. The "essential fair nature of poker" is a myth which people like her telling themself to justify when they makin' it rain on other peoples bad fortune (or bad play). Gambling is gambling. It has many sections but so does martial arts. That doesnt place karate above judo or mma, just because one is better or have an essential fair nature. Its all martial arts. Poker is gambling.

You're missing my point Bowie. I agree with you, poker is gambling. However she doesn't therefore she made the decision based on her own principles. That's all I'm saying.

I wonder if Vicki is any relation to a hard right wing Christian mental case media personality over here by the handle of Michael Coren... He has a heavy British accent of some sort. Real drama queen the guy is.
Spits out tons of that feculent right wing spew every night on that hurtin' right wing propaganda TV station Sun News...
I hope there's no relation,...I like Vicki Coren...!

Okay NOW I get it.
But I'm still on the fence about her principles. It's just makes no sense 2 me that her advocating 4 PS after Black Friday but getting worked up now when this firm starting to look just like all the other gambling sites. It definitely looks as a double standard to me, but hey we can't be all alike. And I guess she would never understand our reasoning too.

If she don't want to promote casino games, it is her choice. I can understand, that she sees problems with those games. But degens can blow their money at the pokertable as effectivly as at blackjack or roulette.

Yep. And that is where the problems start. The rooms want to see the wealth redistributed to their pockets, while the wannabe pros want their "fair share" from the money the degens/fish blow away.
