Open league  0
This month i decided to give atry to the PSO open skill league quite a challenge.

I will try to play 3 tournaments a day without stalling the game to much. The first two game i played yesterday were not very good with two minus but the 3rd. made a nice plus. So now i am in the plus zone.

Unfortunately i missed the first game today and i will have to do very good in the others one.

I also would like if some mobbers are playing this game we could give us tips on how to play it. Worship Worship Worship

Hi Pinotte...... I will be playing the Open League this month, but don't think I will be able to devote as much time as you can, and maybe will be able to do at least one maybe two games most days. I too had a poor start with -3 and am currently about 10,000th! I made it into the premier league for January but work got in the way and despite a good star, I tailed off cos I couldn't get the games in.

A first tip for the open league; play tight for the first hour waiting for monsters to arrive. Get past the cut off for minus points and build after the break. Alternatively, cos most people will be playing tight....play loose and aggressive and steal easy money.

Hello Pinotte,

I was quite the regular to these league tournaments and did quite well with the a few monthly payouts. I qualified for the Premier league as well through the PSO. I feel it's a good building block to solid poker play.

If you want some advice I recommend only playing premium hands early (AA KK QQ JJ AK AQ) There are so money donks early on due to the 10000 entrants that it will dwindle down quite quickly as you may have noticed.

The top 2500 get + points so hold out for the big hands and take advantage of the horrible players early.

Good luck and I'll look ou tfor you on these tables

My player name on PS is also TheIrish77

Sorry mate, but I am not playing the open skill league any longer. For me it just does not make much sense, because the prize pool is so little and if you want to win in the overall ranking you need to have VPP on Stars.

The two games i have played today were not in the minus but very small plus , I waited for the monster hand wich never came.

I was card dead in the two, so not a very good start and the challenge is getting harder but i wont quit even if i just make the top 2 000 at the end of month for a very nice $2.50. Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile

good luck
it takes patience and time
unfortunately i don't have those
that is why i can never play tournaments that require leader-boards to cash something decent

but some mobsters will able to help you i suppose , because i don't see big difference between open league and BRM games

My first game today was not to good with a minus when i shoved with KK and got called by AA and lost.

The second one was going very good until i decided to bet with AK i got my card on the flop and shoved and lost by a four cards flush.

The last one went very good and got out near ITM means a very good plus.
Not a to bad day. Worship Worship Worship Worship

i played it seriously for one month, and its by far my worst poker experience ever. If they would only make it hyper, or at least turbo format those tourneys would actually be a bit more interesting instead of waiting for 6 people to finish their 30 sec folds.

sometimes ull end up with like 5 people stalling all the time and every single hand is going to take like 5 mins so yeah... they somehow managed to make such a dynamic game like poker boring Sad

Apple..... You have a point there my god man. It does take a long time and I am not sure it achieves everything it was set up for.

Toronto.......Perhaps you could share a few tips on how you made two top 100 finished in 2 days so everyone can benefit from your experience? Then we can all win it!

Hi raymonvdhaak,

You win/lose points based off your finish in each tourney you register for. The top 2500 players each gain positive points from the session and will be added to the league leaderboards.

So you may have gained in or around 65-70 points for your efforts which is really good. As long as you don't have too many bad runs and lose too many points you should be able to qualify for the top 2000 pay out. Also if you finish in the top 400 you will be given a ticket to the premier league division which offers much better payouts and far less players each run.

Good luck and hope this info helps you out on your long journey.

Here are the rules taken from the PSO.

Prize Pool: $10
The top 2,000 players win a slice of the prize pool of more than $11,800. It is distributed as follows:
< 20 Members who have earned fewer than 20 VPPs during the prior month are playing for a first prize of $150 from a a prize pool of more than $1,800.
20+ Members who have earned 20 VPP or more during the prior month are playing for a first prize of $1,500 from a prize pool of more than $11,800.
What are VPPs?

Notes: Even though the tournaments are open to anyone in the PokerStars.com client, only tournament results for players that are already school members will be scored for the leaderboard. School members who are eligible to play in the Premier League are not prevented from playing in the Open League Tournaments, but their results will not be scored for the Open League Leaderboard.

THE PREMIER SKILL LEAGUE
The PokerSchool Premier Skill League is contested between the top 1,500 members* from the previous month's league leader board.

A 'Premier Skill League Ticket' will be awarded to the following league participants:
Top 800 finishers* in the Premier Skill League
Top 500 finishers* in the Open Skill League
Top 200 finishers** in the Premier Skill League Qualifier

700 members from the Premier Skill League that did not earn at least 20 VPP, or finished too low in the leader board, will not receive the new month's Premier League ticket, and will therefore only be able to compete in the Open Skill League or the Premier Skill League Qualifier during the month.

Premier league tournaments:
Name: PokerSchool Premier Skill League
Schedule (dates): Daily, starting on the 3rd of each month
Schedule (ET): 2:00, 8:00, 14:00, 20:00
Location: Tournament Private tab
Buy-in: [Current month's] Premier League Ticket
Prize Pool: $10
The leader board for the Premier Skill League will award the top 500 players up to $30,000 across two levels as follows:
20+ Members who have earned between 20-150 VPPs during the prior month will play for a top prize of $500 from a prize pool of $3,000.
150+ Members who have earned 150 VPPs or more during the prior month will play for a top prize of $5,000 from a prize pool of $30,000.
What are VPPs

Note: Members who have been invited to the Premier Skill League are not eligible to compete in the Open Skill League leader board during that month. For example, if you were awarded an 'August Premier Skill League Ticket', you will not be prevented from playing in the Open League tournaments during August, but your results in those will not be scored for the Open League leader board. However all members are welcome to compete in the Premier Skill League Qualifier leader board.

Yeah I should have just cut and pasted that pinotte, Thanks buddy.

So I'm playing the 1pm as we speak and doing quite well on this one.

Sitting 67 out of 466 atm. Lots of points coming my way for this one!

Wish me luck Smile

------------
out in 362, two badly played hands in a row cost me it all.

Unfortunately the PSO is at the same time as banmroll, so if u r playing both at same time, then its much harder to read the weaker playsers that go all in with nothin compared to the ones who do with the nuts.
saying that i do play both at same time, and take a chance with one trny while playing the other more proper.
bankroll doesnt penalise you for losing early, yet PSO does, so i play that one more tight early in the tournament

He is absolutely right. These tournaments need a lot af patience, but there is a big difference between the open skill leagua tournaments and BRM freerolls: there are not so many loose players at the beginning, because you can loose points the earlier you go out.
