Football bet wins 50k but it could have been £273k!!  0
I have just read a great story......an 11 fold football accumulator was placed for £5. Ten matches were played on Tuesday and the final match the following night. All 10 of the first bets came in leaving just Portsmouth to beat Derby to win him a massive £273,000($426,000).
He had the option to cash out £50k ($78k) and, hardly surprising,he took the cash.......unfortunately the final result was a Portsmouth win.
I think most of us would have taken the early cash-out but he chose those 11 matches for a reason and 10 came in.There were also a lot of cup upsets that Tuesday night so he picked very well.
I know for a fact I would have taken the money but I would be feeling quite dejected......dejected but with a handbag full of cash and a smile on my face. Smile

I also saw that story over social networks and I think at the end of the day his cash out before KO was the right choice as the last selection was going to be a draw match and his bet was home win right?

Cheers hope you doing okay and having fun at the tables and all, just happen to pop up the news and saw that post from you and i checked it out, he is one lucky punter but could have won more this is what happens when you have the cashout button you always have the tendency to cashout when you could have won more but at the end of the day he made a good decision as maybe 50 k was a lot for him and better that than not win anything!

A 50k win for just a 5 bet. There should be no room for a bad feeling. Next time around he could just place two 5 or 2,5 identical bets. Than he can cash out one, and let the other one ride on.

Before we getting away with cheering 4 the guy lets take into consideration that accas (especially the ones over 3 or 4 folds) are basicaly equals printing money for the bookies. Each game you put in there no matter how sure thing you bet on is diminishing your (mathematical) chance to actually win. Also I told many times here to everybody that never-ever push cashout, this guy would have been better of if he would've just simply hedge his acca by laying Portsmouth with a larger sum.

50k return for a fiver invested... pretty good performance if you ask me. now he has enough paper to place a fiver on some random accumulator for 30+ years each day...
@bowie- well sure the hedge bet is a better option butt that would mean he had to take sth like 10k from his pocket, which might have been empty...

I agree with what you are saying Bowie but if you are gambling for fun having a acco with around 10-12 picks is always a great chance for a rec gambler to hit a massive win for small change.
In the UK when I was younger we use to have the football pools which millions did every week,we use to have a man come round on a Friday night collecting the money......how things have changed. Smile
