WPT are closing down their Online Poker Room

Tags: bankrupt, World Poker Tour, WPT.

It will soon be all over for the online poker room of World Poker Tour. A few years ago World Poker Tour opened their own poker client on the Cryptoligic Network in order to host online satellites to their land based tournaments. This did not work out as well as they thought it would and when the UIGEA passed they were no longer able to accept players from the US which made it hard to compete with the big poker rooms like Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars.

It is now only a matter of time before the whole company of the WPT are going to go bankrupt as they owe a big sum of money to Cryptologic after breaking the contract with them.

Has any of BRM members ever played in this room?
How did they think to face the competitions with monsters like Full Tilt and, most of all, Pokestars ??

Tough times for the Cryptologic network. Littlewoods have left to join Pacific and Lucky Ace in their network and now WPT is closing down. Time that the UIGEA gets overturned.

I think sites going bust or networks struggling is the whole idea UIGEA. Against online poker and the such, so i guess these people who wanted it will see things like this as a victory, which I think stinks, isn't the USA meant to be the "Beacon Of Democracy". How can it be when it dictates what it's people can and can't do, yet they have the gambling capital of the world in Las Vegas.

I guess which cardroom is next to close down.

I doubt that. With the poker boom a lot of rooms have been introduced. They will not all survive the current economic downswing. We will see a lot of the smaller rooms/networks in problems.

WPT Pokerroom, that's pretty cool. I didn't know they had one. Without US players WPT have no choice but to close down.

Im sorry for them, but there is to many poker sites on the net ATM..I think the world only need about 15 poker sites. Thats enough!..

Ya, there's a ton of pokerrooms. Over 600 listed on poker scout.I like the variety though but I wouldn't like to play at a pokerroom that closes down.

I think its good, because online are often busy and tournaments ending when start?

I preffer soft games.
 doomdy24/10/2008 15:39:31 GMT
I never played there, but played on sunpoker which is also cryptologic.
Cryptologic isnot bad, good betwork but littl low traffic.

Btw @geneyuss: nice site pokerscout.com Smile

Now William Hill is the next Cryptologic Site that leave the network after Littlewoods and Poker Plex, its a shame i realy like playing Crypto my Home there is Interpoker nd its always a pleasure to play there , William Hill move to the ipoker network, I also heard rumors that Cryptologic think about to merge with Partypoker , would that mean our Crypto accpounts will be granfathered from Partypoker and then elegible for rakeback on Partypoker ???? now that were a gr8t deal lets wait what will happen
 shokaku26/10/2008 14:44:28 GMT
Yep. Will Hill will join ipoker in January. But i can't see rakeback accounts for the crypto sites at party. The loose party fishes would get slaughtert by the tight crypto players.
