HighStakes: How 2 poker sessions can change it all...

Tags: DIN_FRU, full tit poker, high stakes, Niki Jedlicka, Phil Ivey.
Posted on Monday, June 22, 2009 by "T".

The Swedish high stakes player, "DIN_FRU", was until last week one of 2009's biggest winners on the fixed limit tables at Full Tilt poker. But two heads-up sessions this weekend changed it all, now he's one of 2009's biggest "losers".

We all know that the swings can be extreme for some of the best high stakes players in the world, but who could ever imagine in their wildest fantasies that only 2 sessions could make the biggest winner 2009 to one of the biggest losers? The Swede, "DIN_FRU", really got to experience some extreme swings after 2 heads-up sessions against Phil Ivey and Niki Jedlicka. "DIN_FRU" simply couldn't win a hand and kept on getting more and more frustrated before he finally gave up. The worst session for "DIN_FRU" was when he played against Niki Jedlicka yesterday and lost $415,000. "DIN_FRU" is now minus $110,000 this year. Phil Ivey and Niki Jedlicka are now the top 2 winning fixed limit players this year.

Why on earth are people still playing against Ivey? HU against Jedlicka is understandable. He is a sick gambler. But Ivey???

Maybe his table selection software is in reverse Smile

Poker is a game where the winner takes it all and one of them will lose it all.
People shouldn't be playing it with all their money they've got, what's fun about that?

Play russian roullette or something

Yes, Ivey is the player to avoid if you're a gambler player. If you are Benyamine it's ok, no matter how much money you have... but youreally should avoid playing Ivey in high stakes cash games.

OMG! When poker players play to agressively it could happen! Ok he played against Phill Ivey that is an excelent player, but losses of that huge amount it is not normal, probably he tilted badly!

Phil Ivey got knocked out early, like first, in the 25000$ heads up tournament recently.

Ivey Rules, is one of the best players in the world, he eats gamblers for breakfast. 2 Words; table selection, bankroll management.

Phil Ivey is one of the poker players i most admire. I still didn't knew about this, but its great news to him! And DIN_FRU is decidin to play only against the best players, and this is what happens... perhaps he should try to play against durrrr, looks like his year is also being full of ups and a lot more downs...
 xxxbchxxx6/24/2009 10:16:04 AM GMT
Well if your going up against anyone would you choose Phil Ivey????? I know i wouldn't...
But when you rate your self that highly to play in high stakes games surly that is the price you pay!
If you have the Dollar to put up and play then you have the right to walk away and by the sounds of it he should have walked away long ago....

Playing against Ivey with such buyin, no wonder he was hit this hard. Will surely take some time to come out of tilt, lol
But i guess he will surely remember this for life and not make this mistake again.
 Tchungpo6/27/2009 3:53:58 PM GMT
he should make a little break... dont you think?
 spanishman7/7/2009 2:44:10 PM GMT
oh now when i see it i lought a bit because i was lucking at a 10/20 € table at virgin-poker where a gay had 1000 € and beated another won with 500 € ( he always rebuyed 500! ) 13 times =) till he had i think round 7200 or somethink =) after that the one bought in 5000 and in the first hand they went all in the one with 7500 with AA and the other with K K and so he lost it all again =) that was how the luck can turn sometimes =)
 Nitscho7/7/2009 5:04:55 PM GMT

**** that must suck, he really need to learn to stop, when it's going bad.
 Btownd877/16/2009 7:48:09 PM GMT
Could it be possible that the poker site fixes these high stakes games in favor of their own sponsored players?

The worst session for "DIN_FRU" was when he played against Niki Jedlicka yesterday and lost $415,000

If that's his worst loss - then that's not high stakes poker.

$1m losing sessions these days are barely news worthy.

I do realise this is limit poker but surely someone else has lost more in the last week or two
