American authorities cause problems for PokerStars

Tags: Cake Poker, Full Tilt, PokerStars.
Posted on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 by "T".

A few days ago the American authorities froze $33 million US dollars in transactions from American poker sites. PokerStars traffic went down with 7% because of this when Full Tilt and Cake Poker's traffic increased instead.

The player traffic at PokerStars decreased with 7% during June due to the trouble with American authorities who froze all transactions from American poker sites. How much money and players PokerStars has lost because of this, we can only speculate in right now.

PokerStars problems were good for some sites
Many poker sites have increased their traffic thanks to the problems PokerStars has had. For example the traffic at Full tilt and Cake Poker has increased with around 3% each.

Full Tilt solved the problem fast and increased their traffic
Even though Full Tilt's players also were affected by the frozen money transactions, Full Tilt were quite well prepared for something like this to occur and they quickly found new payment methods so their players could continue transferring money.

Full tilt and Cake poker thank american authorities.
I dont understand why American politics see poker like a problem, it should be a bless, they could be winning so much money with taxes, instead they ban online poker from the country.

Yep. Hard to understand. And disappointing for those, who hoped for the new administration to ease things for online poker.

We will see Obama playing the WSOP soon, lol it would be fun.

But why did they freeze the transactions in the first place ? Did USA think they were shipping away 33 million $ to other countries ?

This is something i have been questioning myself for a while. In a moment of recession the world is drawn under, poker sytes continue full of big players investing their money in their quality poker and collecting the fruits of that investment. Its being better to play than to buy and sell auctions, thats for sure. In the game, what you do is the guarantee of success, or not...

I just hope they don't start creating extremely lame pokerlaws in belgium!

Lol i dont understand why americans are reacting like that to poker they can win a lot of money in taxes if they want to. Instead of that they ban online poker room. Ridiculous. Fulltilt for me is better than pokerstars!!!

LOL Obama takes on Phil Ivey in the heads up final of the WSOP.........lol

Americans all the way through history have made some big gaffs and usually make the right decission in the end.

They either give up and stop challenging the poker players of the world or they'll get in on the action and start up poker site from the white house. Agree

Surely there is something wrong with American politicians, banning poker sites and freezing transactions.
Thank god rest of countries are not like this
But good news for fulltilt and cake as their traffic will increase. cake is a new site and deserves more traffic then its getting now.
