Million Dollar Challenge: Sammy George isn't afraid of "durrrr"

Tags: durrrr, million dollar challenge, phil ivey, sammy george, tom dwan.
Posted on 20 August 2009 by "T".

Sammy "any two" George, from England, is one of the players that Tom "durrrr" Dwan will play against in his new challenge later this year. Sammy George, is not a very well known name in the world of poker, but he's very well known and also a highly respected high stakes player in England. Even though Sammy George knows he's going to play Omaha PL or Holdem NL $500/$5000 with a minimum buy-in of $500,000 against one of the most successful online players, he's not afraid at all.

"I'm not afraid to play against players like Tom Dwan on these stakes. If you ask me, I think that Tom Dwan is just an average player. Nothing special at all! Of course there are players that I have a lot of respect for. Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius are two of them"; Sammy says.

Durrrr best pre-pay for his flight home.

Sammy 'any 2' George is one of the worst players I've ever seen on a televised poker show. He wouldn't even be a winner at .10/.25 online.
Mind you, they are only playing 500 hands, so it will probably come down to a coinflip !
 B1gfoot20/08/2009 17:27:45 GMT
I see lots of ppl slagging him from that 1 show, but he did take 2nd.
He is a reg, £25-£50 and winning.
Im not saying he is a great player, but to say he is bad from a tv show (we all know they play diffrent for tv) is underestimating him.
Besides that your From UK give the man some love, UK gonna busto durrrr
You dont drive a roller and top spec merc in to you huge house in london if you are a donk.

I'll second these sentiments. Sammy is just a wealthy business man with some cash to burn and unless he gets very lucky he's gonna get his ass kicked.

If he really fancies his chances then he can play Durrrr any time online. The fact he doesn't even rate Durrrr shows just how bad he is - He's probably as bad as the players on here that call Durrrr a fish

I'm from the UK too but I don't want Sammy representing us - He's just a rich retard.

He surelu gonna get his ass kicked by durrrr, maybe then he'll have some respect for durrrr then

This english guy is being too optimistic, i cant understand him. Where i live, we always try to put stress on the other side, so Sammy George should be saying "durrrr is the favourite and he has to win, or he will pass a shame in front of everybody; i dont want to loose, but i am going to play for the fun of making a heads up against one of most known players in the world" - this way durrrr would be more suspicious from the oponent than he is.

Never underestimate your opponent ...
 Ali_c20/08/2009 21:12:36 GMT
when they going to play?
 palfco20/08/2009 22:40:11 GMT
in the uk we have only seen sammy "any two" george on 1 tv show ("the poker den" Blink
he went 50k up quickly but ended up losing 80k to rw111, roland "the rat" de woolfe, ian "the raiser" fraiser, neil "bad beat" channing, and possibly the worst player phil lakke!
so durr will kill him eventually

Yep. If he plays like in the poker den, it will be over in less than 50 hands.

What is he ment to do put himself down? Say hes a crap player and durrr will walk on him, probably no point in playing. You ever see a boxer enter the ring without bigging himself up or without belife.
Besides that he kida said that about WSOP, was just a fun game for him, money was not an issue and he only wants a bracelett. I dont think he is playing this for money, but publicity and a chance to take out durrrr.

Well anyway these are the sort of ppl durrrrs going to be playing, sammy jumped at the chance.
Iv not seen all pokerden yet but watched a bit, lot worse than sammy at that table, tv games are just publicity games, its roumerd he has made over 3mill in underground games???dunno
But what i do know is when Durrrr enterd the sceen he wasent playing good just damn right crazy and it worked for him.
Any one durrrr plays is going to be an underdog, dont expect anything else, you think PA is gonna show up lol.
Now thats why I say give these ppl some credit for taking the challange.

durrr will make him go broke!!!
Durr for life!!!
 toho21/08/2009 20:57:35 GMT
durr is in every way better poker player than some 'any two' fool
 voitansut22/08/2009 23:08:26 GMT
I think everyone is afraid of durrr.
 fcumred22/08/2009 23:12:04 GMT
Anyone who thinks Durrrr is anything other than a ANY TWO CARD player is deluded.

This will be a bloodbath with money flying all over the shop and it will boil down to who gets lucky. Skill wont come into it, because neither has any skill whatsoever

Durrrr is a " any two card " player but he has the talent to do it.

He's won millions on line and live - do you put it all down to luck? I don't see anyone but the worlds very best players prepared to play him on a regular basis.

Doyle rates him, as does Hellmuith, Patrik Antonious, and Phil Laak. Those are just the players I've heard talkin on TV about him. But you think you know better than them !!

I think it's probably you that's deluded.

But some people can play a wide range of cards, others don't.

Durrr has won very little live..

and the reason everyone wants to play him is because they feel that they have the ability to take millions off him. They wouldnt play him if he were that good and they ran the risk of losing their bankroll.

If you seriously think Durrrr is that good then you carry on. But the fact hes never won a major live tournament and was shown up on most of the TV shows hes ever been in suggests that without a huge bankrolll behind him to scare people off pots, hes pretty ineffective.

He is simply a high stakes ring game player and thats it. Throwing money into pots and hoping to hit.

Compared to Hellmuth, Doyle, Ivey, Negreanu and co hes a bit of a joke, and Hellmuth, besides others tell him so.

THe fact that in High Stakes poker when people suffer a bad beat they now say YOU'VE BEEN DURRRRED says an awful lot.
 doomdy23/08/2009 08:36:08 GMT
Variance will be pretty high in this challenge with 2 loose players.
I have no doubt Dwan will win this.

Dwan is a CASH player not a tourney player, so the fact that he never won a big ''live'' tourney doesnt say anything.

Imo there are better skilled players CASH like Ivey and Antonius for example but you have to giv this guy the benefit off the doubt for now.
The guy build up a really huge bankroll out off nothing and now playing high stakes and doing good.
Dwan proved he is allready a ''legend''.
 B1gfoot23/08/2009 10:18:53 GMT
Durrrs played in lots of touns and basically started as a tourn player.
The fact hes not won big shows he is still a new kid in town, and think it will only be time untill he does.
And when he does then he will join the greats and become a legend, you got to stand the test of time.
Hes played 6 years, first 3 not exciting, 2008 was his upcomming. HS has seen lots of ppl come and go some get press some dont, durrrs still yet to prove himself, its a little offensive i think to the likes of doyel,Hellmuth, stu ungar etc etc to call him a legend, no doubt he has tallent no one disbutes that but lets wait a while before stroking his ego.
 brennanaman123/08/2009 10:37:20 GMT
who gives a fleas fart about these two poker jokers.ive watched both play live and online and the standard of play by both players in my own un humble oppinion is weak at best.give me a big stack and i will wipe the floor with them both.500 hands will be played if that.they will both be on a lottery roll reraising eachother no matter what.poker egos 1 will get lucky 1 will get a reality check.
 Koss25/08/2009 02:13:03 GMT
durrr is the greatest poker player I've ever seen.
