Last night the extended Day 4 of Event #29: Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship continued. Only 4 players had chips left and Dennis Phillips, best known for his 3rd place finish in the 2008 WSOP Main event, had a decent chip lead over the other players.

After some hours of battle, Dennis Phillips and Allyn Jaffrey Schulman, wife of 2009 WSOP Europe Main Event winner Barry Shulman and step-mother of 2009 WSOP Main Event final tablist Jeff Shulman, were the last 2 players of the tournament. Phillips had five-to-one chip lead at some point of the heads-up and no one thought Schulman would come back.

But Schulman kept on fighting back and also got a little lucky in an all in when she got a runner-runner straight that gave her a lot of chips and confidence. After this hand it didn't take long until she eliminated Dennis Phillips in second place for $372,895.

Allyn Jaffrey Schulman received her first gold bracelet and $603,713 in prize money for winning the tournament. Also, she became a part of poker history as she is the first female gold bracelet winner since Vanessa Selbst's victory back in 2008 (aside from the annual Ladies World Championship). In fact, she put an end to a 249 straight male winners of gold bracelets era.

Final table results:
1 Allyn Jaffrey Shulman $603,713
2 Dennis Phillips $372,895
3 Bob Phelps $270,727
4 Hoyt Corkins $199,023
5 William Stabler $147,605
6 Stuart Spear $110,416
7 William Thomson $83,332
8 Martin Fitzmaurice $63,418
9 Harold Lilie $48,669

Another woman entering the history of poker, this is great to know they also like the game and play equal, and win nice too. Turning around a five to one disadvantage is not an easy task and we don’t see it every day. Now that she and her husband have both WSOP gold bracelets, they got to give some support to the son to see if he can win one too. Never heard of a family like this, but that house must be full of poker related stuff in every room!

I'm sure that is not true! WSOP $1,000 Ladies Event is won by a female every year and it's also a gold bracelet event. So, Schulman could only be the first woman to win a gold bracelet since Marsha Wolak won The Ladies Event in 2011.. The article should say Schulman is the first woman to win a non-Ladies Event gold bracelet since 2008!

That can only be a healthy thing for poker the fact she won in such a male dominated field.

Might attract more chicas to the tables which is never bad.

The fact its a seniors event maybe makes it seem a touch less glamorous but really quite an achievement even if she did get lucky with the runner runner.

cool she came back from five to one chip deficit- clearly dennis was interested more in her boobs than in the cards, so one can say this was a very expensive mistake to make, maybe as a compensation she agreed to spend a night in a hotel room with him- to "recover" from a mighty loss

somaks are you braindead or just unable to read " she became a part of poker history as she is the first female gold bracelet winner since Vanessa Selbst's victory back in 2008 (aside from the annual Ladies World Championship)"

Come on, Somaks, wasn’t it obvious that the news was referring to an event where people from any genre could register? Think about the marathon from the Olympic Games. You have males and females running at the same time, but the event gets more mediatic when it’s a woman winning it. By the way, there was already a portuguese woman winning it once.
