A 23-year-old guy from Finland traveling the world playing tennis. Besides tennis, I love to grind MTTs and SnG's on FTP and PokerStars.

My first week in Egypt was great both for tennis and poker. I made it to the semifinals in singles and also had a nice cash in poker. The second week I had problems getting my best game going on the tennis courts.

I felt the ball quite okay but didn't have the last nail in the coffin to bring the matches home... I lost in the second week in the second round and in the third week I lost in the last round of qualifications, which was a bit confusing for me when I had a good feeling on the court.. Played actually that game the worst match so far in egypt... And this week lost in second round in singles but made to the finals in doubles, so tomorrow will be the final.. I am not really focusing on the doubles (didn't even play it on the 2th and 3th week) so this was already a good surprise for me and maybe this will be a bigger surprise tomorrow when we win Blink

And then poker, I tried to get to the top of the leader board in the Full Tilt Mtops I was after maybe 30 event at the 20th place and at best I was 11th... Didn't play many mtops and I was running actually pretty good, even in a game as omaha ( have no clue how to play that) ended up just before final table 10th.. So either omaha is really a big game of luck or maybe I had a really good run? Probably both Tongue but then because had no good time to grind tournaments so decided to let the mtops leaderboard go.

Last time I remember my bankroll was around 7k but now had few bad days especially sunday was really bad when I tried to get to the sunday million threw a satellite and ended up paying more then the buy in to get in the tournament Sad and didn't even cash! After that night Ive been quite tilty I start with normal games and when I lose them I want right away action and dont want to wait for the games to start .. Full Tilt doesn't have enough games in the higher buy in sng games so I find myself getting to the the hyper games much more easier then before trying to win back the losses and of course one day thats gonna and already did a lot of money... I lost one day don't remember the right amount but all the cash games and sng I played more then 1k for sure... And yesterday I was playing a 600d HU hyper (Im stupid or what?) and today lost already 200d to HU hypers were the EV graph was + for sure but thats HU hyper... And now I have a bankroll of around 5.5k so little bit down from few weeks.

Now the question is WHAT GAMES i will continue to play and most important WANT to play?

Tournaments are always nice, but I have a hard schedule with the tennis and have problems to play them every evening...

Sng were I think I have the edge on others, the bigger buy ins are filling so slowly on FTP and what I heard on PS the 30d+ are really tough games to play +ev without supernova... So changing site? Dont think games are filling faster then ftp...

Cash game, well what can I say about cash games.. I think I should first of all learn to play cash game before getting in that game Smile

In fact, the game were I think have the best future is omaha, I saw my coach playing omaha and he was making big bucks and when he played on low limits he was saying that they are so bad etc and when I tried to play for few hours (0.05/0.10 blinds) found that I was not even the fishiest one on the table! But of course with that limit there is always a fishy one playing omaha Smile

Hopefully on the next blog I have something good to say, like I FOUND MY GAME I WANT TO PLAY!
Well until next time brooooos Smile

Good luck at the tables and on the court, btw the photo with the socks that accompanying this blogette is totally priceless, so its worth a read just for that alone.
A bit of editing and trimming on long sentences would be wise sometimes, so it could be resulted in a more coherent text, but you have some nice writing chops for sure.

Im sure I mentioned before that you are not kidding when you're tilting hard, but who am I to advise you some closer bankroll management, its your money anyway. Altough its not delightful reading about how to loose 25% of your roll in one day.

wow 600d hu hyper -.- thats asking for trouble isnt it :=)

no seriosly, just stay away from hypers or if not at least make sure you got more than 10x BI (so no 600d hypers with 6k br! Big Smile).

great blog as usual, just a bit sad though... i was always wondering how difficult is it to stick to your normal game, limits and all, once you win something big. Apparently, not that easy Smile

What sort of tournaments are you involved in? Is it parallel to the ATP or soemthing?
How much can you win for a tournament?

Sounds like fun doing that and poker for life.

Well its not easy once you hit something good like I did to stay on the same levels and play the same way.. I found that the levels I played before I had no motivation what so ever to play them. Bigger buy ins I started to play but they were filling so slowly so started to play hypers and then started to tilti so much easier then in the turbos when the games were filling all the time.. I had no problems with 5+ tables when I had to play all the time and wasnt thinking at all about the flips I lost or even when I had once in a while a good hand I lost.. But anyway, now I am heading back to finland to practice more some tennis and hopefully get to play few poker games aswell.. In this moment had a few beers extra to get a good sleep in the plane or atleast hopefully Thumbs Up
I will reply to all questions in few days if you have Smile or maybe in few hours if I quick before I leave the nice EGYPT country!

I read my message again.. And understand when I said I have a few extra beers I really mean I had a few extra beers Tongue so sorry for the english

I would definately recommend to start and play and learn in the same time omaha.

i can almost guarantee that once you get the grip of the game you'll never want to come back to no limit holdem. A good PLO player on a profitable site can make profits that even top players can't get on holdem.
 Heskor10/03/2014 14:56:10 GMT
Cheers mate, PLO is very soft as you found out, but you have to be able to deal with the swings, it's huge and a couple of bad beats could put you in tilt mode and you might lose more money. But if you strong you can make huge amount of money. Good luck enjoy your PLO games they fun and very challenging!

I was reading your post and i just blocked when i got to the part where you explain you ended up paying more than the buy-in of a tourney because you tried it through a satellite, obviously more than once. You are an experienced player and you must have saved good money before by trying satellites to enter big tourneys instead of buying the ticket to the main event at first. Thinking about this, i realized i can count through my fingers the number of times i actually got to paid places in satellites, which means i giving profits to poker rooms on those fields. Next time i think about going to a sat to try the big won, i better save some more and go imediately to the main event!

Best of luck chief.

You might want to consider hitting the casinos (in Egypt). Kinda strange though... no Egyptians are allowed to gamble, or step foot in their own casinos. You get those drunk business men, or an overdressed couple... When you coem to think of it, its not much different form the hotel scene from Fear and Loathing.

Just a suggestion..
