Alex Jacob was a rising star in the poker world around 2007. The 30-year-old American has just about $2.6 million in live tournament earnings to date, with his last cash being a 182nd finish for $2,217 in a NLHE event at the 2012 World Series of Poker.
Although we aren't so sure just how much he plays these days, we do know that he has won almost $50,000 on two episodes (Friday, April 10, and Monday, April 13) of TV game show Jeopardy.
Jacob, who was presented as a currency trader from Chicago, Illinois, defeated depending champion Chris Hurt and Laura Kohlberg in the episode last Friday for $23,090 in prize money. On Monday, he took on two new opponents and pulled off another big win.
After his two victories his winnings were at $49,600. A lot less money than his poker career-best of $878,500, but if his winning streak on Jeopardy continues he should have a nice bankroll for this summer's World Series of Poker (if he chooses to participate that is) where some serious cash is up for grabs.
