The $1,100 buy-in partypoker Million Sochi Main Event drew a field of 1,170 players. The first two days were played online at partypoker on March 12 and 19 and the remaining days were played March 23-25 at the recently opened Sochi Casino and Resort.

Ukraine's Dmitry Chop entered the final day of play in the chip lead with only 10 players remaining. Chop extended his lead further and made it to the 8-handed final table as the only non-Russian player. He then progressed to heads-up against Lev Mnatskanyan. Mnatskanyan had a small chip lead when the battle started, however, Chop overtook the lead and emerged victorious within just a couple of hands.

In the final hand, Mnatskanyan raised to 3.2 million with AClubAHeart and Chop called with QClub10Club. The flop rolled out KHeart10Heart10Spade and Mnatskanyan bet 10 million, Chop responded by going all in and Mnatskanyan called. Over 100 million chips were in the middle of the table when the dealer put out the last two cards: 9Diamond and 3Heart. Chop scooped the pot and Lev Mnatskanyan was eliminated in second place for $150,000. Chop received the trophy and $225,000 in prize money! It was his biggest live cash to date and he's now only $39k short of making the $1 million milestone!

Many congratulations to Dmitriy Chop on winning this event and the $225,000 first prize. To crack aces to win the whole tournament must have been a very exciting hand to watch

dmitriy chop has played this tournament fantastically well and actually was never forced to chop the pot even once throughout the partypoker million sochi main event tournament, even though he was the man who was most prepared for this sort of event. i imagine if he played against vasiliy pot, then dealer would say chop and pot chopped the pot...

I read people names which were playing on the final table and it looks like all of them are from russia or countires that were in Soviet union block, I think not a lot of people from western world were playing in this tournament, or maybe russians played a lot better?

Sochi is really not that inviting place tbh to make anybody plant a casino there let alone Winter Olympics (khm, Putin) so I expect more big poker events will come in the future to this place otherwise people won't really care at all about this casino.

I tried to get into this turn via sattelite ... and these sattelites on the PP were a lot ... very many .... but such as I was also very much and they played differently and insanely and well ... in the end I I could not of course get into this tournament

Many congratulations go to Dmitry Chop from Ukraine who took down the $1,100 buy-in Million Sochi main event. It must have been a long journey for all participants, especially for those who made the final table.

That´s a great combination of onlime and live poker tourney. And the field with over 1.100 players are verry big at this Prty Poker Million tourney in Sotchi. And that a player from the Ukraine have won, was also a nice story.

well yeah talking about this format where you have to play day 1 online and then move over to offline tourney is something interesting, probably those online=offline combos do have something in them, at least they provide variation to the usual either just online or just offline tourneys.

Not a huge prize money, but a very good one.
Especially when all you did was to put 1100 $ to buy in.
All you did i mean for them, cause how many of us would buy for that amount Smile
Nice return on his "investment"

Hmmmmm, chop it up seems like a nice name for a proffessionnal tournament poker player Big Smile If you could chop it everytime then it would be a easy game Blink

Anyways, I have never heard of this Dmitry Chop guy but good for him he must be a pretty good player if he managed to win this prestigious event.

I wish good luck to him in the future

Hmmm! A very nice outcome for mr chop! I expect he was especially pleased to see that he was the only non Russian on the final table and that he beat all of them to take the tournament down in such a way at the end. I am trusting that he executed safe passage with his winning s back to the Ukraine!
