What happened to the two lucky qualifying contestants who won an amazing $14,000 package for just $1 to play against renowned poker pros at Poker After Dark 888poker Week?

Poker After Dark 888Poker Week details

  • Day 1: November 5, 2018 (Mon) 6pm EST
  • Day 2: November 6, 2018 (Tues) 6pm EST
  • Venue: ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Buy-in and Tournament type: $10,000 Sit & Go

Prior to the tournament, the two lucky men Peter Martin and Otto Richard were given a special tour in Las Vegas accompanied by 888poker ambassador Chris Moorman as their guide. They dined at high-end restaurants and also had a great time playing golf with the legendary online poker pro. Also, they got some cool poker tips from Kelly Minkin and enjoyed a wonderful stay from November 3 to 7 at the luxurious Aria Resort & Casino.

Peter Martin
On November 5, 2018 (Monday), Peter Martin, age 24 who works as a warehouseman, was the first qualifier to see if he could win the $50,000 first prize, and he was on fire right at the very start. He first shot down Moorman's Queen pair with his A-K after flopping an Ace all-in preflop.

Later on, he clashed with 2018 Women in Poker Hall of Famer Maria Ho,

Martin got K-10
Maria Ho had 9 pair
Even if Martin bet hard on the flop and turn, Ho saw things through and got her third 9 on the river. Unfazed, Martin called a huge bet on the river that sadly cost him a great deal of his stack.
On another round, Martin seemed to get even he went all-in with Aces against Ho's Kings, but Lady Luck favored Ho more as a King popped up again in the river. Martin busted emptyhanded but oh well, he got the chance of a lifetime to play with the true-blue poker pros, and this experience he will surely never forget for a long time. Maria Ho then claimed the $50,000 top prize in the end after she emerged victorious in a heads-up match against Eli Elezra.

Otto Richard
On November 6, 2018 (Tuesday), Otto Richard, age 34 was the second qualifier to play against the poker pros. A France national who currently lives in the UK, Otto is no stranger to tournaments and have won some himself such as the 2017 WPO Dublin Event #11: €550 WPO Main Event for €92,000 ($110,166), the highest score of his poker career so far.

In the early part of the game, he had Kings versus Moorman's A-Q, and this busted the 888poker ambassador. After that, Klein and Minkin got busted, which left Otto to deal with Elezra and Tilly.

Bad luck for Otto, as his K-10 was no match for Elezra's Kings, causing him to lose the chip lead position.

Elezra busted Tilly who settled in the 3rd spot, whereas Otto was guaranteed $20,000 to take home, with a chance to try and win $30,000 more. However, since he's quite low on chips this was his demise as it only took one hand for him to go down. He went all-in with K-9 suited and Elezra called with J-3 offsuit. They both got a pair on the flop, but on the turn Elezra got two-pair, making him the winner.

Even if Otto did not make it to first place, he still won $20,000, a tremendous ROI on his humble $1 spend.

This must have been a fantastic experience for both players and i was pleased to read that one of them won $20,000. It must have been pretty frightening to play against such good players but also very exciting

We had read about this, some time ago, when they had won the tickets.
Now its about the actual tournament.
And it shows that indeed, only one dollar can win you lots of money,
since one of them managed to win 20k USD. A great result after all.

so if I am right, one played didnt won anything and second player got 20K of dollars?what a great win from just 1 $!nice to see that somebody who played online, got chance to play live and to win great amount from almost nothing!at least one player took his chance!

Is a beautiful experience of course and the opportunity to play in a live tournament is something different for them ( provided they have not played live until now ).
About the tips poker received is very good, if these two players know English very well.
Now they will have to try to play as good as possible and reach as high as possible. Smile

The one that won the 20k USD you can see he is not new to the game or live playing. And his win was nothing close to the one he got in 2017 for 92k euro.
Not that this one was a bad win. A very good addition to his winnings,
or his bankroll Smile The disappointment must have been for the first player...

Agree Agree Agree

I must be the only one suprised that amateurs are not playing like pro's given the chance but pro's still could make amateur mistakes plenty times.

They are not so amateur if they have managed to win these packages and both have received some tips about poker.
When you get advice from someone who knows, help a lot and amateurs can not compare with this. Amateurs lose fast and others with few experience resist longer in the game.
Of course a pro will beat them but hese players who have won these packages they are not amateurs. Smile
