Partypoker pro Isaac Haxton Says Most Top Poker Players Use AI to Improve their Game

Tags: Isaac Haxton, partypoker, poker bot.
Posted on 22 February 2018 by "T".

Isaac Haxton is an online poker legend who in January has become one of the ambassadors for partypoker. The 32-year old gaming professional has $16 million in lifetime tournament scores as well as several millions more in online cash games, has left PokerStars in 2016 in favor of partypoker.

He is one of the few professional poker players to criticize openly the policies of PokerStars and that partypoker is the one that goes in the right direction.

Being one of the most respected poker players, Haxton readily admits that Artificial Intelligence is the future of poker gaming and that many professional players are already using AI to strengthen their game.

The future of AI in gaming became a factor when the high-profile contest between an AI bot from Carnegie Mellon University beat a group of professional poker players. The development of such a bot has not only become a proving ground for AI technology, but also the possible training ground for poker professionals.

"Most of the top poker players are studying AI to work on their games at this point. I think that's just going to become truer going forward. That doesn't mean the end of poker or anything like that. The best AIs beat humans in chess, and chess is still a healthy and thriving game. Humans are studying AI to improve at it, same goes for backgammon, apparently GO now as well. I think it's the future of game playing. Computers are going to be better than people at most games pretty soon. Mastering a game is going to be in large part about learning from those computers as effectively as you can."

wow, if that's true really amazing!! prove that mathematics and logic dominant in poker game. I thought instinct and luck more important factor. But I hard to believe it since I saw some poker video where some top player play 74s or kx ( Ilsidur1 Blom at Germany recently) and win. How AI analyze that ?

to understand that - these players who make money from poker they use all sorts of programs to help them more. So the calculations of these programs greatly help the very good players in online games. I would like to use a legal program to help me more. This is possible or have been banned?

of course, artificial intelligence now surpasses the human brain in any game ... at first it turned out in chess and now it's also a poker game ... of course a person can win some games from the computer but at a long distance the computer is certainly stronger than a man ... it's sad

see a professional of the caliber of this talk so the future and artificial intelligence in the world oline makes me a little afraid of this future because although the sites are extremely safe we are talking about a virtual world where you can almost everything and aganacia can take some to to commit crimes that we see today

I cannot blame any of these players for using this and it makes complete sense to do so. Any time you can do anything to improve can only be a good thing and i would definitely be using this

Well, it's not a big news that AI and data mining are already a part of a poker world for several years.
It's not good for industry, because common people play mostly for fun, and don't want to spend a decent amount of time learning different strategies and analyzing data. They do it at work every day. Poker is supposed to be a fun game.

Well i read the whole article, almost all of it and stopped when i read that they
are studying AI for backgammon.
That is where is topped reading Smile
I would call that, if that actually happens a waste of time for a game like backgammon.

is complicated with this kind of program because make professional players to be confused and spoils their game. Is better on intuition, talent, strategy or luck. Honestly, i would not want to use this program but other programs i would try. Just not to be too complicated.

"Computers are going to be better than people at most games pretty soon. Mastering a game is going to be in large part about learning from those computers as effectively as you can." WTF? if he admits computers are going to be better than humans, what's the point in improving your game, you will still suck vs computer... better buy more advanced ai solftware imo

The mistake that they keep doing when they talk about AI and games, or everything
else, compared to poker, is that in poker there is the bluff.
No matter what they are gonna do, how good that AI can become, the whole system
will be failing due to this.
Cause if we say they are going to "master" the bluff, that will be based in some specific
values... which are going to be repeatable.
Just my personal opinion.

Information is power. A seemingly overwhelming amount of information for normal human beings can be minutely dissected and analyzed by efficient utilization of Artificial Intelligence. What a world we are living in.
 godoy24/02/2018 14:28:52 GMT
looking for information on how artificial intelligence operates in the environment oline I am very worried because if this goes the human factor would cease to be relevant and this is crusial for the sport poker
 pochui26/02/2018 20:14:42 GMT
well if you doubt that ai can master the game of incomplete information, then my personal answer is that yes it can, and can do it better than humans, just because humans have a way to figure out if they have the edge, if they should call, raise, etc. they figure out a way to get the read on situation, opponent... basically based on their personal experience, education... ai also does the same- it just makes more accurate decisions and doesn't go on tilt...

Hi Calicul, you can notice wich program could use in each poker´s room in the BRM sections "Reviews". I´m be afraid with an idea like "Black Mirror", when the gadget could be integrated to the poker players (money rules). Then the poker that we kow will be dead!
 CALICUL28/02/2018 14:27:59 GMT
Hi Maragatero. I'll watch to see if everything is ok and if these programs are legal. Honestly i would have needed one in the pokerstars poker room because this software is very uncomfortable with me. I'm curious if this software helps you to make better games and more money. I'm sure many have used it in the past but now i do not know how it works. Thanks for your advice and good luck in future. Big Smile
 maragatero28/02/2018 15:13:08 GMT
I´m don´t use them too, and also want to know. When I see players pro´s videos, they ever have an HUD for characterize the oponents and when the programs not work (java problems or something like that) the pro get annoyed. But all these program need a thousand of hand in memory for adjust definitions
 CALICUL01/03/2018 14:31:58 GMT
Are some poker rooms when you right click on a player's image and you can put different colors depending on the player. The most dangerous is red or what do you want to put. Other rooms have different methods. To be able to retain these things you can put on paper too if you do not want with the software. These things are useful in many times.
