Jaime Staples just 8 lbs apart from bro Matt as $150K Weight Loss Prop Bet Nears End

The final week of March 2018 marks the first year since hedge fund manager and poker player Bill Perkins challenged the Staples brothers Jaime and Matt to a prop bet - that both brothers need to get within 1 pound bodyweight of each other in one year in order to win $150,000. If they lose, they only have to shell out $3,000.

The bet was hatched during a week of poker streaming on Bill Perkin's ‘Streamboat' in the Bahamas in March 2017. Perkins gave the brothers odds of 50:1 - they win $150,000, or they lose just $3,000 - not a bad deal to most people actually.

Their initial weigh in was made 6 days after the bet, in which Jamie's weight was at 310 lbs (140 kg) whereas Matt was only 135 lbs (60 kg).

There were many doubters who believed they wouldn't be able to pull it off, but as the days go by and thanks to Jaime's efforts in getting fit (while his brother Matt on the other hand tries to up his in order to meet his brother's weight halfway), victory and a sweet $150,000 paycheck is now in sight.

On February 2, 2018, Jaime hit the 100 lb weight loss goal and on Twitter he posted a before and after photo of him:

To make sure that their home stretch of "Ultimate Sweat" is performed perfectly, they enlisted the help of their coach Mike Vacanti.

Jaime made good use of Vacanti's arrival as another chance to drop a few more pounds by walking the 19-km distance from his apartment in Malta to the airport with his other brother Chris.

Coach Vacanti is definitely pushing the heavier brother hard as Jaime successfully lost another 5 lbs in the past couple of days with the main plan being that Jaime must be the one to meet his younger brother Matt's current weight of 187 lbs.

It seems that instead of the excess weight that once burdened him, it is STRESS that is now weighing Jaime down. The pressure is really getting to Jaime and is evident on his recent Instagram photo.

The official weigh-in shall be streamed live on Twitch.tv.

well this is actually more than just money, though not saying that to win 150.000 of dollaros is a bad thing, but to also get within normal weight is a lot better for your body so if he wins its a win-win for the wallet and his body.

Wow, Jaime Staples looks a lot better after he shed 100 pounds! I didn't expect he would manage to lose more than 50 pounds. Well done, Jamie! He must have been eating healthfully and exercising regularly.

Fair play to these two guys, they are really making a good fist of winning this bet. Bill Perkins definitely has too much money and i would love to make a few bets with this guy

Exactly... People pay money for gym to keep their body in shape and one guy PAY other fatmans to improve their live, health...
Please, give me $150.000 and I will lose some weight and pump some iron for that Smile

It looks like they are gonna win the money. It wasnt an easy task, for both of them.
Besides the money, he must be feeling better now, with less health risks.
That was probably one of the best bets, that we have read so far.

Is a risky bet for both. A fatter man if he has the ambition, he can do that and Bill Perkins lose the bet. On the other side if a brother does not have that ambition to lose weight will lose 1500 dollars and his brother same. Anyway it's a pretty interesting bet.

I think the hard part of this task, or bet of you like, was for the thin brother to gain weight.
It is not easy at some point, and i believe it is much harder than losing weight.
To lose you just dont have to eat, but in order to gain you need to stuff yourself all the time Smile
 CALICUL25/03/2018 15:43:51 GMT
it's easy to get fat if you eat fatty products. If she was eating a bunch of sour cream, shaorma, fast food, potatoes or fried meat and much ice cream will be fattened. I have not read everything here but I'm curious what will happen with this bet and who will win.
 StheP26/03/2018 00:05:31 GMT
they won it... both 188.3 pounds

very cool and human this bet of the bill because he did not aim the money but the well being of the friend if it was not in the time now I'm sure it will be for the rest of the life of the brother because it is not anyone who helps someone like that to those involved and mainly to BILLPERKINS
