partypoker ambassador Anatoly Filatov emerged victorious in this year's partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Main Event held in Russia after he defeated fellow player Gor Kazaryan in a heads-up battle for the massive first place prize worth $886,200.
Only a few weeks ago, Sochi, the Russian town located on the coast of the Black Sea, played host to the FIFA World Cup. This time, it was poker's turn to shine after the soccer craze thanks to the very successful tournament series called partypoker LIVE MILLIONS.
The US$4,700 (RUB 318,000) Main Event just finished after five days of play. The field reached to almost a thousand entries and with that the prize pool grew to a sweet $4.4 million.
Some of the notables who participated in the action were Bertand "Elky" Grospellier, Maria Lampropulos, and two Russian partypoker ambassadors, Dzmitry Urbanovich and Anatoly Filatov.
Filatov entered the Main Event on Day 1B, and he landed with a modest 2 million chip count. But by the end of Day 2, he was one of the bigger stacks in the tourney, and things went pretty well for him as time passed by - he entered the 8-player final table 5th place in chips.
Eventually, he went up against fellow Russian Gor Kazaryan in a heads-up battle for the trophy and the prize of over $886,000. Filatov actually wasn't in the lead when it boiled down to just the two of them on the table, but he managed to turn things around in his favor pretty quickly.
After a grueling hour of heads-up action, Filatov turned the nut straight versus Kazaryan's two pair. They both went all-in, with the river changing nothing, thus making Filatov the winner of this year's partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russian Main Event.
