2020 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas Postponed until Autumn |

The organizers of the World Series of Poker has finally succumbed to the inevitable, postponing this year's largest, richest and most prestigious poker event in the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, April 20, WSOP organizers announced that the 51st edition of the event originally scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, May 26 from the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is officially being postponed as a result of the public health emergency involving the novel coronavirus. They are aiming to reschedule in autumn, with exact dates and events yet to be released.
Executive Director of the WSOP Ty Stewart said, "We are committed to running the World Series of Poker this year but need additional time to proceed on our traditional scale while prioritizing guest and staff well-being. In the interim, official WSOP competitions are expected to be played online this summer, and we will soon announce details of an expanded series of tournaments to be played on WSOP.com and through partnership with international operaators, which will allow players to chase WSOP glory from their homes."
As a result of the postponement, the 2020 WSOP schedule will reviewed again and there will certainly be changes made. When this year's edition does run, it will still include poker's world championship, the $10,000 buy-in NLHE Main Event, which is the richest prize pool on the poker calendar every year. The revised 2020 WSOP schedule will be announced once all the details have been finalized.
The WSOP's next live event scheduled is the Global Casino Championship at Harrah's Cherokee casino in North Carolina, USA from August 11-13, which is supposed to be the finale of the year-round WSOP circuit. Also still on the schedule is the WSOP Europe at the King's Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Both events are scheduled around autumn.

| in my country bars,restaurants and everything will open on monday,but you will need to have space from 1,5 m between two tables and this sort of things,but still you will not have places where you can have lot of people on one place!soon we will have football games,but without fans,so same will be with live poker in other countries!you can expect that soon they will have this kind of events!

For WSOP great , huge tournaments I also don't know how it will be possible to played out , when some restrictions will still be in place , when things start to be normal step by step . For example , some cash games in some casinos can be played now , but only 4 max or 3max .
Tournaments with tables of 4 or 3 players plus the dealer would never end , lol. They would have a cap of players , meaning less guarsnteed prizes . And who is going to play them ?? Whoever buys the ticket first ?? Priority to the pros and well known whales with extended bankroll ??? Don't know ...At least for now .

| you can imagine when they have main event adn in few days,they have more then 8000 players,ofcourse they play for day 1A,day 1B and so on,so they have 2000 or 3000 in same time and that is just too much,so probably they will close everything if situation dont stop till end of august!first to see europe and then rest of world!

| All the games could be changed in that way. If they have to respect the distance in the table, as antonis321 said, you can forget of play in full ring. Or the table to keep in nine players with the correct distance maybe enormus! The cards have to be delt with a drone, would be very fun! But anyway, should be impossible to run a live tournament with thousand of players registered...

| Organizers can always change tournaments, programs and other things. Next month is perfect for WSOP to get the chance & to run all games. I do not see this series as an impediment and i realize that anything is possible with a good ambition.

What is the status in Vegas these days? Are they suffering deaths in a serious way or is it just a danger of it to get worse and fast?
I think the maximum players you can sit at a table and keep the distance is for players which means double the tables and also a completely different game. Doing think they will go this way

WSOP is such a great event , it will be such a pity if it ends cancelled in the end , hope that in the Automn will actually take place , many want to earn their big payday or the payment for many years , especially many pros , want casinos live back .
I think the major , woman who reelected last time with 80% of the votes , tried to pursuade for the need to reopen casinos at ;as Vegas , but this backfired I thnk , didn't have any good result , Anyway , I believe in the near future some good news will come , isolation will stop , casino rooms will reopen , and everything will go back to normality , in Las Vegas , everywhere . Fo casinos , for opther busineses , for all the world , enough is enough ................................

| hm,again we see some stupid posts,how wsop can be in next month and how they can make all games,even we talk for three pages that they say that everything is moved till autumn,but its question will be then also!so it would be good to know what is in text and not just to collect points and to read posts from other members!

| Did you see the prototype of tables that are be testing to return to play poker live? I will try to upload a picture of that. It´s really uggly, but maybe safe! Anyway, I ever think that a normal poker´s table is too tight between the players. You have to do it like a seat in an airplane, touching the player's elbows next door. Is really uncomfortable to be there for a lot of hours!

| for few months this will for sure be solution for players,that they can even play in casino!maybe its very stranbe,but on this way players will have chance to play without distance between them!till when this will be,we will see,but maybe even some big poker tournaments will be on this way!

I have heard of some restriciond being uplifted in Las Vegas , so maybe it's a matter of time untill evrything starts over again at the casinos , why not with the tournaments included ?? 
LoL maragatero , this picture of the poker table If I see such tables at the casinos , it would be very funny , totally uncomfortable for the players . And if it's 4 max it might be good , if we need more players at a table , like 6 or even 9 ?? We will need very big round tables , it will be hilarious

| My friend, you must to insist with satellites for live tournaments and maybe one day you will be able to qualify for a major tourney. Here a mobster who succeeded with this had the pleasure of visiting Bahamas ( i think... ). A great game with a lot of money. It's possible.

| Yes, it maybe a solution and it change everything! (covid is menacing to do it with all the world) Today I saw a first test to a live tourney (I don´t remember, but I believe that was in Vegas). They show a normal table to full ring, with a glass (or plastic) courtain in all of its perimeter, and four players seated in each corner. This is an operative answer to my doubts!

| Things go back to normal in a maximum of a few weeks and we can do many useful things for us. I can't predict what will happen in a few months, but we need to make money, because some are talking about a new world crisis. Good luck my friend.

Why would any casino need these glass/plastic curtains or separators between players , this is an exaggaration imo . and more expensive solution . Just enforce the use of mask , or even gloves , by all players . Also use these
high body temperture detectors at the entrance door of every casino , so the people infected or the more serious ill people to be identified and be denied the entrance to this facility . It;s really easy . Also use mashines , airconditions or whatever , to clean and refresh the air inside the casino . Is it so hard to do rhis ?????

| You don´t understand my friend antonis321. They will use ALL that measure of safe. The player will be controlled on his temperature before to registered, they have to use a mask -like the croupier and all the customers there, they have to wash their hands in all the breaks and, surely, they have to have a 70% alcohol bottle near of them. That cost have to be asummed by they and the poker´s room. The cost of health, at least in my country, is assumed by all the people trough taxes!

They have so many ways to control the spread of this virus in a closed place like a casino . Masks , gloves , some distance between players , for sure social distance between players on the breaks of tournaments , this thermo detector for body temperature , why not impose the players to have made some examinations the previous 2-3 days (also a little exaggerated) , alcohol antimicroviobic or anteseptic liquids for the hands at the entrance/exits of the casino , filters for the air inside the casino rooms , other precaution measures , why have these glass/plastic things ??
This is crazy . I think by touching your neck , eyes , mouth , nose with your hands you migth get infected . If you use masks and gloves , isn't the risk minimised ?? Almost to zero ???
So why not open casinos ??? Or other business ?? if the use of these protection measures is COMPULSORY , not OPTIONAL , everywhere !! 
Crazy exaggerations these days 
They even forbid events in open to air places , like stadiums , even with 1/10 of the max number of spectaculars per stadium's stand , even with only young fans personnel , other crazy things , it doesn't surprise me the fact they are so stupidly exaggerating with the casinos or other close rooms/places . Stupidity at it's finest .

| Oh you will need a courtain wall against the wind, or make some magnetic cards and table....hahaha. I think that the situation with the covid19 is not overcome, and all the activities that are starting, or trying to start, are making from the wishes. But the reality give a reasonable touch of afraid that make that all the prevention couldn´t be enough

| The organizers did not have time to make all the preparations (including rodent control after COVID 19). This is not like football and the established schedule is very good. The important thing is that: until then poker rooms must to have many satellites.

| CALICUL this business have all the money that they need to buy the time to do it. The question is if the goverments accept their propose. It maybe only a test ballon to generate some good publicity. But the question with the risk of the poker´s tournament is not by the table. They have to make some solution with the transport and the public space

| Here it is different and yes there are some time limits... because they take into account several aspects who made them to schedule this series in the autumn. It is important that life to returns to normal and people to have a job for monthly salary.

| In Greece almost everything goes back to normality , to the usual life we were living . Ofcourse , stillsome walk in the streets with masks , thinking that they will get protection , although with masks you protect the others from yourself , if you are ill , LOL . Anyway , I hope all other countries do the same , and this lockdown ends once and for all . I really like some countries that didn't follow these crazy lockdown rules these last months . I hope the WSOP takes place this automn , there are ways to protect players . if this is still a priority , even then . No need to cancel it Time will prove me right

| In Argentina, the big numbers are arriving. Yesterday we had more than 600 new cases of infections, after more than three weeks having only the half of it. Any way, some governors of aome cities like Buenos Aires, are trying to relax the isolation in a suicide decition, more infections = more relax to the measures. I don´t care with becaming poor a bit, but I chose the life!

Maragatero, my friend, you really believe the aberrations on TV? Did you really have neighbors who really died of coronavirus now? I live in a city with a maximum of 2,500,000 unofficial inhabitants and i have not heard of COVID 19, but when the government intervened then number of lies increased through journalists.
