It has been less than a year since the Stanley Cup was last handed out, and now it's that time once again for the NHL to crown its champion.
Fans of ice hockey know that the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Playoffs are one of the best postseasons there is in sports.
For the first time in 28 long years, the Montreal Canadiens will play for the Stanley Cup. They'll go head to head against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are back in the Final for the second straight year, and looking to go back-to-back.
This season is quite different from last year as well as the previous ones mainly because of the pandemic. Due to travel restrictions in Canada, the NHL re-aligned their divisions, with one including only Canadian teams.
The first two rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs happened within the division.
The first place team battled it out with the fourth place team, while the second and third place teams were pitted against each other. The winners then faced off in the second round. The four teams that progressed to the semifinals were re-seeded using regular season point total.
Now, we have the Stanley Cup Final - pitting the reigning champs Tampa Bay Lightning against this year's Cinderella story, the Montreal Canadiens.
