The second day of the quarterfinals has finished, with Morocco and France moving on to the semifinals.
Let's take a quick look at what happened on the second day of the quarterfinals:
Morocco vs Portugal
Outcome: Morocco 1 - Portugal 0
Another unexpected outcome at the World Cup quarterfinals!
Youssef En-Nesyri (pictured) scores the winning shot as Cristiano Ronaldo exits Qatar tournament.
En-Nesyri, who twice headed over the crossbar, jumped higher than both Portugal defender Ruben Dias and goalkeeper Diogo Costa to place Morocco ahead in the 42nd minute.
Morocco became the first African nation to reach the World Cup semifinals as Youssef En-Nesyri's first-half winner added Portugal to the list of shocked teams in Qatar.
Portugal team captain Cristiano Ronaldo was transferred to the bench at the start of the team's second straight game. He got into the field in the second half after Portugal fell behind, but it wasn't enough to make a comeback.
England vs France
England 1 - France 2
Olivier Giroud (pictured) scored the winner and Harry Kane missed a crucial late penalty as France beat England 2-1 in a dramatic World Cup quarterfinal on Saturday.
Aurelien Tchouameni gave France a first-half lead only for Kane to equalize from the spot about nine minutes into the second half.
For long stretches of the game, England was the better side at Al Bayt Stadium, but out of blue, France gained the upper hand when Giroud headed home with 11 minutes left.
With Brazil being eliminated on Friday, France is now definitely the favorite to retain their crown as they prepare to face Morocco in the semifinals.
France remains on track to be the first team since Brazil in 1962 to win back-to-back World Cups.
