The world of darts has witnessed the emergence of a remarkable young talent, Jayden Walker, whose performances have drawn significant attention and admiration. At just 12 years old, Walker has already made a name for himself in the competitive arena of darts, particularly through his participation in the MODUS Super Series.
A Promising Performance
Jayden Walker's latest achievement came on Sunday, December 1, during a doubles match in the MODUS Super Series, where he partnered with Manchester United content creator AngryGinge, a prominent figure in the darts community. Their collaboration not only showcased Walker's darting skills, but it also highlighted the potential for synergy between experienced players and emerging talents. The match was notable for its intensity and the high level of skill displayed by both participants.
Walker's performance was particularly impressive, as he demonstrated remarkable composure and precision. Even though he was significantly young and smaller than the trio, he executed a crucial 145 checkout during the match. Walker and AngryGinge went on to win the Super Series Pairs tournament , against Fallon Sherrock and YouTuber JaackMaate, with the 12-year-old hitting a 180 in the deciding leg. The performance shown by the youngster is indicative of a player who possesses not only talent but also the mental fortitude required to succeed in high-stakes environments.
Comparisons to Luke Littler
As Walker heads to the limelight of the darting scene, there is no doubt that he will be frequently compared to Luke Littler, another young prodigy of the darts world. Littler, who has already established himself as a formidable competitor, will now serve as the benchmark for Walker's entry to the professional sport.
It was on the Super Series where Littler made his name, winning the 3rd season of the MODUS Super Series in May 2023. Although the moniker of the "next Luke Littler" has already somewhat been attributed to Walker, he will need to overcome this with his continued success in the sport as no achieving sportsman wants to be known in the shadow of another.
Of course, Walker isn't quite on the 17-year-old Littler's level yet, and Sunday's event was only an exhibition.
Bested world champ Luke Humphries
He did, however beat PDC world champ Luke Humphries the day before his viral win. He saw off the 29-year-old with an average of over 102 in a 2-1 win in Portsmouth on Saturday.
Not many 12 year olds can say they've beaten a world champion at darts!
Humphries was seen smiling as Walker enjoyed the love from the MODUS crowd after his victory. The latter hopes to retain his world title at Alexandra Palace this month.
A total of 96 players shall be competing for a big prize pot worth £2.5 million.
Littler finished as runner-up last year in what was called an incredible debut, and will of course want to go one step further this time around.
And maybe one day in the near future, 12-year-old Jayden Walker will follow suit.
