Safer Gambling Week is a cross-country initiative to promote safer gambling in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
This year's Safer Gambling Week runs November 17 until 23, and will see once again the whole industry coming together in a combined effort to further promote and raise awareness of safer gambling, feature the tools available for customers to stay in control, and provide advice and support for those who need it.
The "Safer Gambling Week" campaign is organized by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), BACTA, the Lotteries Council and the Bingo Association. Now on its eighth year, this year's event will see once again a bunch of safer gambling messages both online and in land-based venues, to spark a nationwide conversation about betting responsibly.
Last year's campaign analysis showed that over 1.5 million individual accounts engaged with a safer gambling tool during the week - an increase of 22% compared with the previous year. Deposit limit use also grew by 14%, with almost half of those limits being set for the first time.
The initiative additionally broke its own social media records, generating more than 60 million impressions across major channels such as X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
Andrew Rhodes, Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission, said:
"Safer Gambling Week is an important moment for the industry to demonstrate its commitment to protecting customers and promoting responsible play.
While progress has been made, we must continue to ensure that the tools and protections available to consumers are effective and widely promoted.
Collaboration and evidence-based action remain central to making gambling in Great Britain fairer, safer, and crime-free."
