Billings, Montana - A thief was arrested after his victim reported that he was robbed at gunpoint right after he won over $3,000 at the Grandstand Casino.

The victim reported to the Billings Police that on April 11 he won a big sum of money at the 905 Grand Ave. Grandstand Casino, which was a little over $3,000. He left the casino premises with his friends, a man and two women, and proceeded to Pioneer Park. When they got there, Witherall appeared, suddenly grabbed him and threatened him with a knife, forcing him to give up his cellphone and most of his casino winnings. Before Witherall fled, he managed to kick his poor victim in the face.

Allen Earl Witherall, age 33, who appeared on Monday, July 11, 2016 in Yellowstone County Justice Court, was charged with one count of felony robbery.

The judge held Witherall in lieu of a $5,000 bond and should he be released, the judge also ordered him to be placed under GPS monitoring.

Yeah, sure. But you don't start to walk around in the city (pretty much doesn't matter which city) during the night after winning 3k, you get a cab and either go home or proceed to a nightclub to celebrate...

I totally agree with Bowie...... It has always worried me that tourneys give you your winnings and cash then show you the door. Why oh why would anyone walk the streets with that kind of cash in their pockets. I know the world should be safe enough for you to do so, but it's not.... Have some sense and go home!

I don't know exactly where the Grandstand Casino is located in Billings, Montana, but after briefly looking at their webpage it appears to me that this property is a small neighborhood sports bar for locals. Carrying a good chunk of money in this type of surroundings is simply asking for trouble. He should have requested a cashier's check (if available) instead.

Well, bad luck, even when you win must be careful when you bring too much money in the pocket must always be alert.

I would say I could see myself hesitating to even bring it home a sum like this in cash. Anything could happen. And it's not even that much money.
