Bankroll management  0
I thought maybe we should have a detailed discussion on this, as a lot of the threads in the forum are questions on how to manage bankrolls, also considering that people receive free money and want to know how best to apply bankroll management to build it rather than just squander it.
Two things that come to mind are if you have a further bonus to clear to get extra money that will change the way you use the money and also if there is a time limit to clear the bonus

eg Bigbet poker free money $10 further bonus $330 but no time limit to clear makes this a great option. As you can bankroll mange this easier. (I myself am not following my principles

first i would break it down and start at 1c 2c tables ......100 times big blind by 6 buy ins = $12 so already we have to be careful as we only have 5 buy ins.
Or for stt would be 25c and that would give you 40stt to build with.

I would then move up to 2c 4c when I reached $24
Or play 60c stt

and then 5c 10c when i have $60
Or $1 or $2 stt

Then continue this way next level when you hit 100 times big blind by min 6 buy ins for cash or 40 buy in for stt
But make sure to move back down a level if you loose eg hit $60 move up to 5c 10c loose and back down to $24 go back to 2c 4c

Now if there is a time constraint on reaching a bonus clearance this will not be practical as starting at these levels may take you too long to reach the points needed to clear it.

I would suggest someone more experienced at clearing these bonus could give a break down of how they applied bankroll to that specific problem.

And if anyone feels my bankroll plan is out please feel free to comment as I would appreciate it.

Further note i did not stick to this with my Bigbet bonus I took a calculated gamble and started with $2 bountys stt and won so i continued with them and have my bankroll up to $36 reason being i was not too concerned at start whether i lost it or not. now i like the site and realise i can clear the bonus if i am carefu........ i will be sticking to this plan........ if i play cash it will be at 2c 4c till i hit $60

Any way maybe someone with more experience in how bankroll management should be applied will detail it in this thread so we can all benefit .

6 BI is insufficient imo....only a matter of time before variance breaks a 6BI roll.

ok what would be a proper amount of buy ins ..... any suggestions.

Before anyone asks why i haven't been applying my suggestions to my poker. I have only been a hobby poker player so it wasn't important .... but now that i cant afford to be using my own money (out of work dad of 2) its something im trying to work on .... and also i would like to start earning money weekly from poker and realize it wont be possible without proper bankroll management...... I want to build up a bankroll to around $800 to $1000 so as to play 50c $1 and try and make around $80 + a day ........... so any suggestions or help on this goal would be appreciated.

The more BI's the merrier imo(to a certain degree ofcourse).

Here's my look at BRM for 6max cashgame.

20BI absolute minimum.

30BI ok but not much to work with.

40BI stable roll.

50BI solid hobby player roll.

100BI+ a pro worthy.

The perfect brm will change individually depending on your playing style and personality.

Do you avoid high variance situations or ship it and trust your read?

Do you tilt alot or easily?

Are you willing to step down in a downswing?

Do you have extra funds to deposit incase you meet a downswing?

I could go on...there are so many factors that decide how tight your brm should be and only you really know how much you need to feel comfortable at a specific level.

Hmmmmm but with $10 To $20 free money thats a lot of buy ins needed before you move up lol..... staying on 1c 2c till you reach $100 seems excessive.

Any advice on $25 with a time limit to clear bonus (normally 2 months) where you want to clear bonus but want to stick to bankroll management if possible and starting out with 1c 2c would not be piratical

There is another thread on this subject in the forum I didnt see before I started this thread and its worth having a look at ....... some very good advice in it so Im going to put a link here to it.
