First a little bit about me.
I have been playing poker since 1997. I started playing on ships while underway in the US Navy. At first I was really lousy. The game was fun, but I hate to lose. I wanted to win. So I bought in even though I knew I would lose my money. I had a different goal. I noticed that the same 2 or three people won almost every time. I observed there play, and there was one common theme that I picked up on in each of them at first...They all played very few hands.
Next on my agenda was to pay attention to what they played when they did, and how they played it. it took me a while, but I got a pretty solid tutorial in hand selection.
So first thing I learned was" tight is right. " When I understood this, I began to make money.
While I do not always play tight, I do play very tight online in ring game. in fact, I think I play super tight, especially at any game below 1/2nl.
Once we hit port in spain, I picked up super system and studied it more than my required study to make rank. Once I got home to the states, I started to look for home games. I found a few, but it was hard to play as much as I did on the ship. No Casinos in Virgina. This time was mostly spent studying the game and playing online at Party Poker(I hope they let US back in.)
I learned a lot about poker in that time and it came time to go on another 6 mos cruise to S. America. Shortly after getting under way, I discovered I was a lot better at poker than even the 2-3 "good" players.
Needless to say, this cruise was when my poker career started. I cleaned house against everyone. Only 2 or 3 losing sessions the entire 6mos. I finished the cruise with a $89,000 bank roll. That was more than double my Navy salary for a year! I was hooked on poker.
I went on several more cruises and eventually moved to places where I could play live poker on a daily basis.
Things were really swell for quite a while. We had some family tragedies and had to go through all our savings.
Today my bank roll does not exist and I have zero expendable income. I am a stay at home father. (I love it) I have all day every day to play online. So I started to think how can BuddyHorn make some money? I wanted to play poker. I took some gift money(very little) and put it on full Tilt. Horrible bank roll management led to me busting out. I was very bummed especially losing to such bad players at the low stakes games.
I sat down and put on paper why I lost, how to fix it and where I want to be in poker. With a new resolve and a wife that understandably does not wish to use household money on poker right now here I am bonus whoring.
I intend to take the free money I can get here and in one other place, and play it to a livable wage. I know the road is tedious and the deck is stacked against you, however, this is what I want/intend to do.
I have taken the Big Bet Poker No deposit bonus. It seems to be the most favorable thing going around here.
my goal for BBP is simple. Play tight and clear the full bonus. Not trying to make the $10 into anything more than the $330 bonus. Any winnings is gravy.
I sat at my first three tables this AM and Bankroll sits at $16.10 played only a very short session as I was getting tired.
The reason I am posting this here is for motivation/accountability. I figure if I have folks keeping track of my progress, I will have to play to a standard. I have an ego, and do not want to feel the shame of failing at a publicized goal.
So please, check in here and keep track of my progress.

I have actually been looking for a decent forum community to join. I currently spend my time at GLB.com. I wont spam with a referral link, but I like that place. From what i have read on here the last few days I think I may stick around and be an active member.

It is a mmorpg related to american football. PM and I will give ya the actual link. GLB is an abbreviation.
------------ did another 45 min session on bbp. 4 tables at the .02/.04
starting cash has doubled so far. $21.09
Not bad of a start for only putting in about 1hr 30 min.
So far on this site at this limit, I see fish, fish, fish.
They call everything pre flop, and post flop if they have any piece of it they play sheriff.
Super tight and multitable is the way to go. Have over 11pts toward clearing first level too. I cant play too long at one time doing multis though as my eyes get tired. I guess I must build up the endurance.

Welcome and its definitely possible, big bet poker has very bad players, like you I just started the bonus trying to build it into a decent roll. I made a thread referring to the bonus as a way of means to keep track of everyone's progress to create a little competition for encouragement. So check that out if you want and GL

Just did another 1.15hrs.
BR 28.89
pts 15.1
------------ Well, I took a long break to allow my 2yr old to go for a walk before my lovely wife got home. We walked around the complex for about an hour, and my wife got home with the weeks groceries. I loaded them all up into the apartment and sat down to a nice dinner. Relaxed for a while and let my wife use the computer for a while, I did not want to play until she was done so I could connect her screen to my laptop. This makes for more convenient multitabling. Finally, a little over an hour ago I finally sat down to play.
4 tables of .02/.04
almost right off the bat I had a pretty tough to take beat. My AA raised to .22 as there were 5 limpers. I had one caller. needless to say, the pot got quite expensive. about 2dollars (glad I did not shove all in.) I wound up losing to trip 8's no not a set, trip 8's. This fool called .22 with 10 8 off. I want this call every time, but this did not set the mood for my session to say the least.
My misfortune led to me starting to chase a little, I brought my roll down to about 23 bucks at one point. Seeing too many flops, over betting AQ and the likes. I felt the momentum going in the wrong direction when I got KK on the bb.
I wound up making a big fold and only lost like .30 with that big daddy. This got me back in the playing spirit. I tightenend up and just let the tables come to me.
I slowly worked my way back up to 28-29 dollars and was steady there for a little bit.
finally, I got KK again. Set the things on the flop. This time I got two callers they left me alone on the turn. Nice little pot. I felt I missed a check in there and could have made some money
Very next hand, QQ Raised it up to .17 and again same two callers. Again I set the girls on the flop I made a modest bet on the flop to appear to continuation bet. I got a re-raise! I smooth called the raise and checked the turn. this fool went all in on me. call and he had a stinking 89 and only had one pair!
I hit and ran this table. No etiquette. left the table.
After an Hour of play and taking my roll down to $23
My roll stands at
BR $36.21 pts 26.59
Not bad for my first day on BBP. 262.1% return on the day.
I know every day will not be like that, but it is a good way to start. I recovered from a nice little mini-tilt and salvaged my evening.
I am going to call it a night and hit the felt again in the AM
------------ I did not log out like I said I would. I was feeling fresh and my lady was asleep so I put in a little more time.
BR $45.75 Pts 34.79
First day is for sure done as I am headed to bed for the night. /b]
------------ Day 2
Oh what an ugly start. Playing bad cards. And my monsters are getting beat or counterfeited.
Have had AA cracked several times. KKK broke off in my butt Also seen too many hands to this point. When in a pot, made way to many bad calls.
Played for a while already, and it is amazing I am up to
BR 47 Pts 71.58
going to attack this thing right after a short break. I should be approaching 75 dollars if I were on my game. opportunities lost.
------------ OMG, total and complete melt down. back down to slightly less than the original bonus. taking a break.
Not to all. when you are getting hit in the face by donkey kicks, do not play back at them.
