Hi,
here is my pokerstory for your competition.
There is lots of
poker bad beat stories so here is a good beat story:
Started playing
poker in december last year. Started with freerolls and then
got a nodeposit
bonus to
party poker. After having played about 3 months I
took part on a sweeptakes lottery for a trip to Las vegas. I forgot the
sweeptakes but one day in february i scanned trough my mail and there was
message: "congratulatios, you have won a 2 person trip to Las Vegas". I run
all over house teling the
news and could not believe that i have actualy won
something.
After first exitement I started to find out what kind of
poker games Vegas
has to offer. To my horror smallest games were 2/4 fixed limit and 1/2
no-limit. My
poker bankroll at time was 200$ so clearly those games were to
big to me with 3 months of playing experience. Dispite that I decided that
this is once in the life time change and so I have play some
poker and see
what happens. I could always start all over from freerolls if I busted my
bankroll. So on rainy morning I started my 22 hours trip from europe to Las
Vegas.
I arrived to Vegas and could not sleep well at the first night and so I went
down to
casino and made 100$ buy-in to 2/4 fixed limit game. I must say that
it did not feel good to buy-in half of your bankroll for your first live
gave when you normaly play with 4$ buy-in. Well lost little that night and
managed to get 20$ up for my trip on 2/4 fixed limit playing every night. I
was happy with that result considerin my experience and bankroll.
Last night in Vegas I thought about going in a tornament. I did not know if
I ever again have a opportunity to play in a live
poker tournament. Buy-ins
for cheapest tourments were 40 to 60$ with 1500 to 2500 starting chips. I
thought the buy ins were quite expensive and the it would be a losing trip
after wining 20$ in cash games and losing 60$ to tournmaent buy-in. Well I
decided to try it and chose Treasure Island
casino because you get 2500
starting chips for you buy-in. I figured the fun would last longer that with
1500m chips.
I was quite nervous when the play started. Because my lack of experience I
decided to wait good cards and then push all-in so that better players could
outplay me after flop. Did not get good gards but managed just get to final
table as a low stack. I was very satisfied with that although only top 5
would get money.
Then things started to happen. Doubled up with pocket jacks. Then couple
hands later got "weapons of massdistruction" pocket aces. Older gentleman
raised and I reraised all-in. He probably thought that I was a scandinavian
maniac pushing all in all the time and called. He showed AK and my AA held.
5 hands later small stack goes all-in and I have pocket QQ. I go all-in but
to my horror player on the button goes all in and shows pocket kings!! Then
I look on the wall and note if I lose i am on the 6th place and get no
money. I could have folded every hand get propably 200$!!!!! It does not
look good after flop, not after turn but the river is Q and I win!!! Now I
am on a huge lead. 4 players left. Then the second largest stack loses it
and starts to push all in all the time. I finally call with AK and win. Now
i am in the huge lead. Remaining players have to push almost with any two
card and I have Ace in my hand every time and Ace comes right away on the
flop so I finnish them in no time.
So i can not believe my luck on the final table against clearly better
players. I was very lucky and won first price about 700$ which was over 3
times my bankroll. When I walked back to my hotel by the dancing fountains
of Bellagio with all that money on my pocket after playing
poker for 3
months, I was very happy but wondered will I ever get that great feeling
again.
With best wishes
