2 members have make polls to close threat and polls.I thing is not a good idea to close any threats or polls we have 180.000 members and when we have the 1000th. poll with "which player do u like more or so on so thats is normal. We have forum rules and when a member not break this rules we can not make to close a threat or poll. On the other side when we have not stupid polls how shall we smile about this it´s sometimes very funny Think about it and GLl @ the tables
PS:.BRM have very good admins and when anythink is not ok with polls or threat so the admins rules that
this is getting so stupid now,................just ban every1 and no 1 can conplain.. about silly post and polls.... hang on just stop every1 coming to this site that will sort everythink out...
but to the peolpe who want to make a differents in this world , stop moaning about silly things, try helping the people who have no food no homes clothes, in stead of debating about all this crap, and your time and effort could go towards some think worth bothering about....... at the end of the day no one is getting hurt, just people think on here they have power to do something just to make them feel there worth living and they wanna make a change,
well like the late jacko said start with the man in the mirror if you wanna make a change

finally someone who realize that this story of closing and not closing threads is just a waste of time and that their are much better things that you can do instead of complaining and acting like a child when someone makes a funny or a (stupid) poll or makes a thread that you don't like . sorry for offending some BRM-ers but just my opinion about what has going on here for the past days .

I think you are missing the point. A good forum has variety. Not everyone will like every thread on BRM. There are lots of members who all have a right to discuss their views but BRM is not a chat room and there are plenty of forums out there where you can post any old nonsense you want. We have a chat thread for mundane chat but people still post pointless messages in their own threads. The vast majority of members want interesting discussions whether they be on poker or not.
So these posts are not hurting anyone I hear you say. Well, I don't know if you've noticed but threads on the top page of the forum are far more likely to get viewed. Imo the main page of the forum represents the daily mixture of threads. When "pointless" threads hang around at the top, there's less room for all the different types of thread that do well here. The people who suffer are the people who want threads on sport, the people who want threads on bad beats, the people who want threads on strategy, the people who want funny threads, the people who need help with their bonuses etc
I suggested my idea because people are finding the forum less interesting, they can't find the threads they like for all the waste of time threads. Let's say I post a poll 'Do you like chicken?'. Someone replies with 'what a stupid thread!' Just as the thread is about to disappear from the top threads, someone posts 'I agree. Stupid poll.' Eventually the post goes but a month or so later some idiot posts 'I love chicken.' Such a thread has no point for anyone. If someone replied with a long post about working on a chicken farm and then someone else gave the vegetarian argument, then clearly some people would have a use for it. That's why I think all posts should be given a chance but if they don't work, they need to go.

That is a ridiculous argument imo. Just because there are bigger problems in the world doesn't mean that we aren't allowed to have troubles of our own. If a hurricane causes devastation in the US we don't all have to stop worrying about our own lives. You don't tell a grieving mother to stop moaning because some women in africa have lost dozens of children. I know that sounds like a bad comparison but all problems are relative.

It's hard to argue that the forum is suffering, when December was our busiest month ever, with 8000 posts, compared to 6000 in November and 5000 in October.
And I haven't really come up with an idea yet how a "close thread"-button would work so it doesn't get abused, but also so that it's still usable for veteran members to actually close threads.
Maybe it would be better to create a filter so that users who doesn't want off-topic threads to be shown on the forum frontpage, won't see them?

i do understand your point of view also and agree in most of it but if i don't like a poll i don't vote and if i am not interested in a thread i don't reply but i am not making a issue of it like most do and for me that is the point . In my opinion it's BRM itself that has to find solutions with or without help from BRM-ers but closing threads and polls when 6 persons don't like the thread is not a good idea at all . In any way whatever the solution will be for this issue i will not stay away from BRM because of that but hopefully will all this problems be solved without bringing damage to BRM .

To be honest, at this moment in time I don't see any threads on the main page of the forum that should be closed. Even though I haven't posted in many of them and some don't interest me in the slightest, I have absolutely no objections to any of them. There were probably far more useful threads in december than useless threads but it just seems looking back as though there have been too many. And I am clearly not alone in this view. But if I am being honest, I don't see this as a big issue. It's something I feel may improve the forum but is in no way vital to it's growth or something that will make me come more often. I spend a lot of time on this site as it is. But I don't want veteran members to come here less often because they feel there are too many pointless threads. I have always liked the balance of poker and off topic threads, serious and silly threads, short term and long term threads so I don't want the mix of threads to change too much.
